Columbus Crew SC (2008, 2020, 2023 MLS Champions)

Back up the truck on this shit. Room looks old and slow. Defense is nonexistent. Midfield is sloppy. Forwards still reading their press from 3 years ago. Blow this whole fucker up

Already have a deal in place for a replacement for Afful. Got to think they’ll be potentially looking for at least another CB, maybe even a LB to replace Francis despite him playing decently well. I think that’s where they’re mostly looking at bolstering. Also saw a report that their interested in signing Sebastian Giovinco as well.

And there were 3 jazzhands sounders fans behind me. Luckily for them were were in the south with my daughters club team and not in the other end.

I don't mind visitors. I don't mind them cheering, but there's a polite line you dont cross.

Hell, I used to take my Steelers fan guy in the dawg pound (eh, edgish anyway) and it was always fine. Same situation these 3 would have been happy with the deliverance treatment.

I wasn't going to post any reactions to the play here, but if I were to mention one thing, abdul-salam was clearly out of his depth today and they left him on.

Fix that and the CB situation will get somewhat better.

My only other comment would be that nagbe isn't setting the pace of play like you would like to see. I'm not smart enough to tell you if thats his fault or he is babysitting.

Yeah, he was aimlessly running forward, and when he’d get back would play half assed defense. Which is a shame, because he’s has games where he’s played extremely well. But if you can’t find consistency, you aren’t of much use. I thought he was the biggest liability tonight, especially after they took the lead.

As far as Nagbe, I really think he’s in a situation where he’s terrified to get beat through the middle, so he’s constantly staying farther back than he did last season. Him and Artur linking up with Zelarayan is what made the Crew so successful last season, because it gave the Crew a presence through the middle as well as the ability to beat you down the sidelines.

Crew hosting Cruz Azul for the Campeones Cup tonight. Crew up 1-0 courtesy of an early OG.

Chance to earn a trophy in an otherwise disappointing season.
