Cook, Conley, and Oden

Matta outrecruited everyone with limited recent success/tradition, and landed the epic Thad5 (as well as getting 5 future 07-08 recruits) under the ominous dark clouds of the NCAA. I think he'll find a way to recruit with a Final Four or two in his back pocket.

I'm sure in a year we'll be doing this dance with Kostas and maybe more, so I figure I might as well get used to it!
while we will have to get used to it, i highly doubt that we'll have to worry about 3 leaving in one season. possible? sure. likely? no. think about it. there will about 6 to 9 freshmen leaving this year. ohio state could account for a third or half of them. the team is one point (xavier) from probably worrying about only oden leaving (maybe cook, definitely not conley).

Absolutely. This many guys leaving this early will be a rarity.

But at the very least, unless he just doesn't pan out or gets hurt, I'm pretty sure we'll be wondering about KK next year (he's already #10 in a lot of mock drafts for 08), and maybe Lighty leaving early (not a frosh but still way early). Then that 08 class, MAN, I have to believe there are a couple of guys there that might go early if their NCAA playing days can live up to their HS body of work.

You make an excellent point though, a few amazing games at the right time of year can sure make a case for a guy leaving early, can't they?

Yep... had Lewis not rescued us vs Xavier, Conley's mindset & opportunity probably never changes after the season ends.

OSU Men's Basketball
NBA draft decision not expected this week

COLUMBUS DISPATCH

Ohio State fans are likely to still be wondering while they watch Mike Conley Jr. and Daequan Cook call plays during Ohio State's spring football game Saturday. That was the indication today from Cook's mother, Renae, and a confidant, Al Powell, who said an announcement by Conley, Cook and fellow freshman Greg Oden on whether they are entering the NBA draft probably will not come until next week.
“I don't anticipate anything until Greg gets back,” Powell said.
Oden is attending an aunt's wedding this weekend and will not be at the football game, in which members of the men's basketball team will serve as honorary coaches of the Scarlet and Gray teams. Conley and junior Jamar Butler are the designated head coaches.

It was a good ride, but it looks official. No suprise - they're all gone.

That's a bold report. But you've gotta think he likes his sources if he willing to come out with the story.

EDIT: I did almost burst out laughing at the ignorance of the poll questioning whether Ohio State will make the NCAA tournament next year. And then I did burst out laughing when I saw the results.

Then I will 'officially' say, good luck to them all. I hope they go to teams that utilize their talents well and they enjoy great success in the NBA. Work hard, make us all proud, and hopefully they will always carry a love for the Scarlet & Gray. I hope to see them back on Campus some day getting honored for their vast (future) accomplishments, athletically and in life in general. :osu:
