Corey Clarke: Stepping Up

Over the last few years Lyndhurst Brush high school has supplied Ohio State with top talents like Marcel Frost and Roy Hall. This year the Arcs have another top receiving target catching the eye of of division one coaches: Corey Clarke.

Clarke is big and fast, checking in at 6'1, 190, 4.5. Clarke is a multi-sport athlete as he also participates in the school's track program. During the track season Clarke posted solid times at or around 22 seconds in the 200 meter dash.

Corey's size and speed makes him the go to guy when his team needs a big offensive play. "Once he gets into the open field he is very hard to catch. Everytime he touches the ball he has the chance to take it all the way," informed Brush head football coach Jason Hall.

Clarke raked in 4 touchdowns on 39 receptions, but not only can he make big plays receiving the ball he can make some noise as an open field runner as well. "If you watch the hi-light films from last year you can see that Corey can do it all. He can return kicks for touchdowns or take a flip screen for a touchdown," said coach Hall.

Clarke who holds no official offers at this time is receiving written interest from Ohio State, Pittsburgh, Syracuse and most of the MAC programs. Corey could be a serious sleeper prospect as his growth as a receiver was stunted last season due to the fact that the Arcs struggled to find a suitable starting quarterback. The rapport was just simply not there until late in the year. For his senior season Clarke will hope to show college coaches that he is stepping up on the field and in the classroom (2.5 GPA / April ACT). If Clarke can bring in some solid grades this semester, and if he shows the coaches on the summer camp circuit that he has polished up his route running ability...the offers could come rolling in.
