Darius Bazley (SF Oklahoma City Thunder)

Thought for sure that he would end up at Cincinnati. After the comments he made regarding the program and the players it is even more surprising he did not become a Juggalo.

Kind of glad he de-committed from Ohio State when he did. It would have sucked if he had stayed with his commitment up until now and then de-committed. Do not care if it sucks for Syracuse because of their HC.

However, something is going to have to be done if guys are going to commit and then de-commit a few months before they are supposed to start attending classes. This might be fixing one problem while creating others for coaches. They are going to have to be very careful on who they recruit and who they allow to commit.

How much different is the G League lifestyle from that of a college kid? G League players get paid 20k but do they have to pay for their own housing? Own meals? College players get that stuff completely paid for.

The only real advantage of the G League is if you think you will get better coaching or play against better competition. Maybe the competition is better? Idk. But there are probably better coaches in college

Well, the other advantages that they don’t have to go to school and pretend to be a student when they clearly are not

The highest salary Bazley can receive in the G League next season is $26,000, in addition to whatever shoe deal he takes plus any off-court endorsement opportunities. Presumably, the agency he chooses will also help prop him up financially.

If nothing else, the G League will offer Bazley a realistic, blue-collar basketball education. The underlying factor with G League competition is that every player on every roster is battling teammates and rivals alike for a finite number of spots in the NBA. Travel quality is akin to what mid-major college programs offer, and commercial flights and ordinary accommodations await. The facilities don’t hold up against the shiny palaces many high major programs boast. The life can be a lonely, unglamorous experience, and being a touted high school player means nothing between the lines: 35 former McDonald’s All-Americans laced it up in January’s G-League Showcase.

really hoping the trend leads to adopting the mlb college-or-pro system. go pro straight out of high school? fine. earn a living. go, instead, to college? fine. you're going to college for at least 3 years.
That is not a good idea. The main objective of going to college is to help you get a job, so you should be able to leave whenever the opportunity arises no matter whether you are an athlete.
