Darrell Hazell (official thread)

If Hazell has a clue he'll decline and wait for something better. Purdue would be career suicide, IMHO.

I think a lot would depend on the coaching turnover this year. If Butch Jones is a hot commodity then the Cincinnati job would be available. Hope wasn't even making $1m a year. His staff was the lowest paid in the conference. I just don't think it's that attractive. It's not a stepping stone, it's a dead end.

Nailed it! :booyah:

If/when Schiano takes a HC job, I would love to see the staff target Hazell for a homecoming. He was such an excellent position/assistant coach here.
i'd love to have hazell if for no other reason than for his evaluation skills. were gonzo, dane, robo, and even hartline impressive 4- and 5-star studs like we've been signing? absolutely not. but guess what? they understood how to run routes and, you know, could actually catch the ball... in traffic. hartline was often derided by osu fans, but who here wouldn't love to have him on this squad? i guarantee this staff wouldn't even have given those players a second thought during recruiting.

Hartline is on the staff. Wonder how much input he actually has.
