Daxton "L" Hill (DB ttun)

Bama wanted Jordan Battle. As soon as they landed him, they cut Hill loose. That's the way I read the situation.
Could be or could be that they wanted them both or could be Battle was backup in case he flipped. Lord knows but if he committed to Bama knowing full well he might not have a spot it's still odd to flip from a school to a school where you might not have a spot a week or two out then back to the school ya just dumped when ya get passed over.

He’s the #8 ranked player in the country, Bama would find a spot for him if they wanted him... but he’s a Michigan kind of player, not a Bama player.

I’m as biased as it comes, but that speaks volumes to me.

That said, I’m sure he will be a multi-year starter for them and have a Jabrill Pepper kind of impact.

It’s obviously better for Michigan to have him than not.

The #8 player according to the 247 Composite, not necessarily according to the Alabama coaching staff.

Hill flipped from Michigan to Bama on 12/8.

Birm CB'ed Hill to Michigan on 12/12.

Bama's recruiting experts CB'ed Battle to Bama on 12/13.

Battle signed with Bama. Hill signed with Michigan.

The timeline supports my theory that Bama passed on Hill after they secured Battle. It also supports the theory that Hill didn't want to compete with Battle at Bama. It probably supports some other theories, as well. In any event, I think that the two recruitments are somehow related.

There's also the matter of an elite safety vs an elite corner. Dax is a killer pickup, but if they viewed Battle on similar terms (he was OSU's entire big board at CB), then your version is considerable.

Also, you left out Webb melting down and accusing Birm of ridiculousness for that CB, while not believing in the flip back himself.

What I've read about this is that he flipped without even telling the Bama staff and as soon as that information leaked, that's when everybody started the rumblings about him going back to Michigan. Looks like Bama wasn't even trying to take him.
