There was an article a few days ago listing some potential candidates for your job and one name that stood out to me was John Groce. I think if he would be offered the Dayton job he would take it because this conference. However, there are a lot of coaches looking for jobs and if Groce went to Dayton we might lose Boals to Ohio.

I think I would rather have Boals over Groce. Groce had one good year at Ohio when they won the MAC tourney. If they didn't win the MAC tourney they probably wouldn't have even made the NIT that year. I am not overly impressed with him. He also had a mercenary that year, Basset, who had transferred from Indiana after several incidents then had an incident at OU as well which led him to "declare for the NBA draft". I think Boals has more upside than Groce.

I went to OU when Boals was there. He had a great Jr year with Gary Trent and Geno Ford then tore his ACL his senior year (after beating OSU in the pre-season NIT).

UD needs to develop it's big men much better and Boals seems to be the guy with the reputation to do just that.

Dayton beat GW by 17 tonight. Next up...Xavier on Friday night. FUXU

Amazing season for Archie. I was hoping for above .500 and then they Lose Benson to a torn ACL early in the year and still win 20 games. One of the best coaching jobs I have seen in awhile.

I've been very impressed with Arch... I think he'll do great things for the program while he's here.

Next season's team will be so young... Dillard and Kav-In-Awe, along with Benson if he's healthy, will have to provide a lot of leadership. But the team as a whole should be pretty darn talented. D-MO has changed my opinion of him these last 5 or so games. I think he can play a big role next year. Needs to work a ton on his shot over the summer, but he can be a good player at the 3/4 for next season... Jevon Thomas backing up the point will be a big upgrade. Need to find a SG here in the late period to round out the class. Guard depth will be an issue if we don't.

If Sanford and Derenbecker can provide some offense, Robinson and Scott can provide some post-D and rebounding, Dayton can contend in what looks to be a little bit of a down A-10 next year...

Couldn't be happier with the hire. Now the Flyers run an offense that actually resembles something, not just dribble up the court, chuck a 3, rinse, repeat.

Yep... That's a big part of why Kavanaugh has developed so well this year. They actually run an offense where the post guy can get touches in scoring position.

I know a lot of people were upset by Staten's departure, but I'll go on record now saying Kevin Dillard this year has been 10x's the PG that Staten would have been... He's a true distributor. Will be fun to watch him be the man next year.

How is he recruiting? Is he in on any big time players?

He's been expanding the recruiting base. Hitting up and down the east coast. Venturing to the south a little. That's been a big change.

To this point, every player he's landed (via transfer or commit) has at one time been committed to a BCS school (Gavrilovic- Providence, Sanford- Georgetown, Derenbecker- LSU, Thomas- St. John's, Robinson- WVU, Scott- Cincy). So that's a good start. Derenbecker was a top 65 player on Rivals.

He got a serious look from IN C AJ Hammonds before he committed to Purdue. Hammonds was on campus a couple of times and really liked Arch. For next year, he's in on a few highly regarded 4* kids and a ton of solid 100-150 in the nation type kids... Should be a good year. Plus, there's rumor of a big-time transfer looking into the program too, someone people on this board are especially familiar with ...

The biggest difference is the type of player recruited. He's getting the attention of some higher ranked kids, but he's not just recruiting athletes and trying to make them basketball players like BG did. He's after a different quality of player now, more complete, more basketball oriented kids (if that makes sense)...
