DB Brendon White (transfer to Rutgers)

Another excellent game from Mr. White. Equally effective against the run and in coverage. Move should have happened earlier but I'm done bitching about it. He's the guy back there now and I'll enjoy it.

Or, just maybe, Grinch was telling the truth about Brendon having his best week of practice a couple weeks ago and they gave him a shot. I’m not sure why fans are running with the “they should’ve played him earlier” narrative. Before him, it was Shaun Wade that everybody was clamoring for.

It’s completely plausible that Brendon is just now settling into his spot at safety. Do remember he’s played two or three other positions since he’s been here.

Just let young players grow up.

Completely plausible indeed. Another great "breakout" player has surfaced. :oh:

Yea I wont be sad if we miss out but if we win out who knows...

This isnt a championship caliber team but I suppose you can't win it if you aren't in the game.
This isn't a championship caliber team YET. But if we continue to improve and beat TTUN and then NW convincingly in the Championship game, with a little luck we might make the playoffs and then who knows?? Here's hoping

Yep I agree! And we know all to well that “playoff caliber” resumes aren’t complete until the conference championships are over (sans Bama eye test). I will be thrilled with nothing more than a win over TSUN but there’s absolutely nothing wrong with rooting for your alma mater to have a chip and a chair. I remember thinking at one point how happy I’d be if we just beat TSUN in 2014. I watched Shotgun come in as JT went down, seal the game, we squeaked in and went all the way. That being said, the 2016 thumping hurt bad and you can’t drink enough to unsee that rogering (believe me I tried). I do feel like this is the year the 4 seed could sneak up on the top 3 teams who will probably hear incessantly there are only 3 elite teams (assuming everything holds serve) and we still got UFM running the factory!

I don't think anyone will notice or care if we beat Northwestern, even if it's 70-0.
They lost to Akron and Duke.
This is one year where I just can't see the CCG doing us any favors. It's a trap game, at best.
I just hope we do beat Michigan and get the chance to visit Indy again. When I went last year, the Wiscy fans all seemed bored from going 20 years in a row and predictably losing.

Couldnt hurt though. Really need NW to win out (Minnesota and Illinois) and crawl up the rankings a little more though. If they lost one of those beating an unranked 5 loss team in the B1G title game really does nothing.

Equally plausible explanation indeed. Kid changed positions three times here in a short amount of time and frankly, I couldn't believe he ended up at safety...my bet was LB or DE. In any event, I am also done bitching about it because realistically, you could have started Brendon White all season and we are still 9-1 imo. Brendon White doesn't stop what happened in West Lafayette and we have an L on the record no matter what. At this point, you just do your best to win the rest of the games and improve the rest of the season.

The "best case outcome" is likely winning out, missing the playoffs, and having a Rose Bowl berth. But when should that ever be a negative outcome? I am excited to keep seeing Brendon kill it out there and contribute towards a successful finish to the season. There is plenty to play for and you play your best guys. Brendon looks like our best guy at the safety position opposite of Fuller. So play him and hope for the best.

Also, awesome to see his dad get the game ball. That is awesome.
