DB Brendon White (transfer to Rutgers)

The fact that White wasn't playing but Tuf was tells me our staff wasn't perfect.

We failed Brendon and no one else did.

He prooved himself and we wasted him.

Just my 2¢ worth here.....

I don't think that is totally correct. Sometimes a good player (and we know he is potentially a good player form the Rose Bowl) just doesn't fit the defense/offensive schemes being run, doesn't maintain a good team chemistry, doesn't respond to the specific coaching stile of the current coaches, and/or his play doesn't compliment the play of the other players, etc. It's like he's a square peg and the team has round holes, he just isn't a good fit. To get the most out of his ability maybe he just needs to find the team that has square holes, etc. Also, it is entirely possible he had some "team rules" issue and/or "character" flaws (that were never made public and shouldn't be) and got in the proverbial coaches "dog house" and never got out; which means the coaches didn't fail or waste him, he failed himself.

Yeah possibly when it comes to discipline issues but White to me could've split reps more evenly with Wade/Werner.

The kid didn't get worse in a year and he really helped turn out defense around last year.

Surely there had to be a role for Brendon who was a starter and one of our best defensive players at the end of the year.
Just because he was one of our best defensive players last year, means little when it was under a different staff and scheme. It happens, fans fail to realize at times, that scheme can make or break players. You can be as talented as anyone in the world, but if the coaching schemes don't fit you, then you can't succeed. Not to mention that Werner stepped up and succeeded in a big way this past year. The Hafley/Mattison scheme doesn't rotate as much as the Schiano/Grinch one, there's nothing wrong with that. I hope Brendon can land at BC or even UC and have a great year next year. But at OSU, his talents didn't seem to fit, and the Bullett position wasn't needed as much, because we had an OLB who had the talent to not have to leave the field, that's a good problem to have. Not saying that the guy that replaces Werner has the same talent, maybe that guy can't cover and has to rotate out for a Bullet, we don't know. But as of this year, White wasn't needed because Werner showed he could shut down some of the best TEs in the conference, and Wade showed that he was great and couldn't leave the field. It sucks, but this is big boy football, this isn't sentimental because a kid has a back story, the whole roster has back stories, and they're brought here to win games and move on to the NFL, or lead successful lives as men. OSU owes them nothing else

Understood but you're telling me we couldn't put White out there at points? We created the bullet position for White and then we never used it.

I think Werner being so good killed the bullet position.

... and with all this scheme talk, is it even going to be the same scheme with a new coordinator coming in?
Or are we going to miss out on the next brutal SS at Ohio State because of a 1yr DC ?

Bingo!
He didn't kill, just made it so that we didn't need it as much THIS year. Like I said, a good problem to have

Possibly not. But we won't know that until another DC is hired.
And I don' think we missed out on anything, we're the #2 ranked team in the country, in the CFP, won the B1G for the 3rd straight year, decimated our rival in front of the world. Not sure what he problem is, or why we're complaining about one player. He had a great year last year, and wasn't needed this year, and guess what, read my last sentence of what this team accomplished :roll2:

Obviously I'm talking about the team in 2020.
Not sure what 2019 team has to do with that.
