DB Corey "Pittsburgh" Brown (DB Coach Slippery Rock Univ.)

From the limited film i have seen and the descriptions from the BPRT, he reminds me of Youboty...would you agree?

I dont think so.. he's hard to get a comp on cause Brown doesnt have the speed u would associate with a CB, but he has a great ability to stick to his man.. almost a sense of where the WR is going, before he makes his break, which makes up for the speed... and he has great ball skills... he has so many nice pass breakups in his videos..

Youboty was a slender and quick CB.. great CB body..

I really cant think of who Brown would comp to

Since Corey and CJ Barnett both plan on enrolling early... can someone tell me if we are allowed to count them against last yrs class??

Thus making it possible to take 27 in this class if we wanted to?

If there's room under the 85 scholarship limit, then yeah, we could.

I watched the state college nike combine video on rivals and was very impressed with brown. He looked like he took more reps than anybody there and didn't back down from anybody. He has great hips, he's very physical when he comes up to press, and has great ball skills. Everybody says he lacks speed. I don't think he's a burner but he's faster than people give him credit for. He didn't get beat in the video and makes up for his so called lack of speed with great instincts and ball skills. I like this prospect alot and hope he commits to us soon.:oh::io:

By A Jardy at the Ohio State site. Brown will take some summer visits, and give a verbal before his season starts. Though he names no leader, he lists Ohio State, Michigan, North Carolina, West Virginia, Pitt, Maryland and Alabama. Talks about the prestige of Ohio State, and how much he likes the coaches.

Counting backward

There are 2 issues. One is the 25/year limit. The other is the 85 total scholarship limit. The players enrolling early can count toward the 2008 class. But the 85 limit is binding at this point. Unless we lose players between now and Feb to transfers and early departures, we cannot sign more than 25. In fact, as of now, we cannot even sign 25. The binding constraint is likely to be the 85 total limit.

^ The coaches know what they are doing. Minnesota signed 30 players last year because they had JUCO's and Greyshirts. Theres ways around the system. The coaches are not offering all these players if they don't have slots. Tressel is at home pinching himself at the possibility of this years class. Defensively this class could be all-world. The linebackers and DB's are down right ridiculous. Take some Prozac and relax kid...let jim do his job. I will admit the players that are beating around the bush may lose a spot. If I were a DB and really wanted to play for OSU I would pull the trigger soon. IMO Vlad, Berry, and Brown will be pulling the trigger June-July.

Not exactly true. The 85 limit applies to the number of kids enrolled and on schollie at any one time. We would have till next fall to make room - not when they sign. Same for the 25 limit. You can sign all you want. Just can't enroll more than 25 on schollie during any one calendar year beginning with the fall term.

What I am saying is this: to sign 25 or more than 25, you need some of the current players to leave, otherwise it violates the 85 total limit. Now the coaches may know some players are likley to leave early or transfer, so they may be planning for a class bigger than 25. Perfectly consistent with my post, which is just telling you how the math works.

I think they're anticipating quite a few early departures for the NFL.
