Browns rookie cornerback Denzel Ward has been named the NFL Rookie of the Week.

Ward took home the honor Friday after a brilliant regular-season NFL debut in which he made two interceptions and three pass breakups in Sunday’s 21-21 tie against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

“I do get amazed just watching him play, not the interceptions but just him throwing his body around in there trying to tackle and making tackles," head coach Hue Jackson said. "He doesn't shy away from anything. He's very even-keeled when you talk to him. He doesn't get too down. He doesn't get too high. He did a really good job last week. He has to play better again this week, and here's another opportunity for him to get better.”

That was really a key play in the game that in hindsight may get overlooked. Without the 3 that Cleveland got off being set up inside the 10 - and to that point the Cleveland offense was still struggling as evidenced by inability to score a TD in spite of being handed the ball in prime position - the game may well have been very different. It helped change the momentum & energy because it got the Browns within 1 possession.
