CB Gareon Conley (D.C. Defenders)

Would be a good pick for the Browns at #25, if he's still on the board.
Conley goes to Oakland Raiders at #24.

BTW, Conley is the third Buckeye to go in the first round. Still no scUM players selected ... but Browns now on the clock....

And right on cue the Clowns select Jabroni Peppers at #25. Unreal.

It didn't cost Gareon as much as I thought it would, but, of course, it was the Raiders who stepped up and ignored that this thing could still go sideways. Doesn't look like it will. Passing a polygraph was huge, I'm sure - although word is that Oakland didn't do one.

My buddy and I were talking last night about whether the Browns have a policy against drafting Ohio State players right when the did their 25th pick. Then, as you say, right on cue, they draft Mr Hype Not Proportional to Production/Mr. Diluted Sample. Then our talk shifted to having to try to not hate a Browns player. He said that Braylon Edwards gave him practice. :)

It's not the fact that Gareon passed the polygraph that gives me some relief. Those tests are not accurate, at all. But the fact he was willing to take one, knowing that in all likelihood the results would get leaked, speaks well to his proclamation of innocence. That was a big risk and it paid off.

As an aside, I know the guy who conducted the poly. He's a true believer in its accuracy and won't hesitate to tell a guy to his face that he failed. So as far as the administration of the test itself and the reading of the results, you can bet it was consistent with established practice.

Not charged but still not cleared. Still under investigation.

“Detectives have had meetings with the prosecutor’s office,” Sgt. Jennifer Ciaccia told Michael Gehlken of the Las Vegas Review-Journal. “They would still classify it as being under investigation. No official charges have been filed. . . . They haven’t ruled it closed. The official statement is it still remains under investigation.”
