Top Safety Out West Lathan Ransom Visiting Ohio State Today

Lathan-Ransom-allsportstucsondotcom.jpg

Fresh off of a visit to Notre Dame this weekend, 4-star Arizona safety Lathan Ransom is visiting Ohio State Sunday.

Ransom announced the trips earlier in the week, and by all accounts, the trip to South Bend went quite well.

Ranked the No. 10 safety in the 2020 class per the 247Sports Composite and the No. 175 player overall, Ransom is the highest-ranked safety west of Texas.

Rivals actually ranks him the No. 5 safety in the nation and the No. 63 player overa..

Ransom also holds offers from Michigan, Georgia, LSU, Oklahoma, Texas, the in-state schools, and many others.

At 6-foot-2 and 200 pounds, Ransom clearly has good size for a safety. In fact, Michigan may possibly be looking at him for their hybrid linebacker/safety “Viper” role.

The Buckeyes offered a month ago, so getting a visit this quickly is certainly a positive for OSU.

For some reason Northwestern’s director of recruiting decided to crap all over Ransom:

I thought he gave a very mature response:

And everyone else seems to be on the side opposite the director of recruiting, as well. Rightfully so. Doesn’t NW have a gazillion dollar facility? Is a pretty football building important? You would think that he would say the people and education are important. That facility says otherwise. What a hypocrite, err, I mean, what a jealous hypocrite. If Ransom wanted to visit NW and take some photos in purple, I’m guessing the recruiting director would get the red carpet ready.

What did it say?

Northwestern director of recruiting tweeted about kids taking visits just so they can do elaborate photo shoots or something like that. Basically shaming recruits who are visiting a school and post pictures on their Twitter accounts of themself wearing that school’s uniform and posing. Had a hashtag #YouWorryAboutTheWrongThings or something very close.

Ransom posted some pics on Twitter of him wearing the OSU gear during his visit. He replied in a very mature way. That tweet is still up.

Note: edited my posts to reflect it is not the NW AD but their director of recruiting communications.

I thought they were supposed to be smarty pantses up there too. Weird.

I guess he was smart enough to delete it and pretend it never happened. Instead he’s tweeting about his hairline and just whistling on. It’s practically gone unnoticed everywhere else, too. A shame. This guy should have to answer for his slights and then duck and run maneuver.
