S Malik Hooker (All B1G, All-American, Dallas Cowboys)

Where does everyone place him compared to the OSU safeties since 2000? He was only here for 1 year, and wasn't perfect, but I have a hard time putting many above him.
As a pass defending safety, he's the best we've had at tOSU since Mike Sensibaugh. And probably better than Sensibaugh.

Yeah, on second thinking, for pass defense, the best who's played here. (Doss, whom I dearly love, was a completely different type of player.)

RANK 2
Malik Hooker - S, Ohio State

Hooker is a tall, rangy safety prospect with incredible instincts. He usually lines up as the high safety and he has an uncanny ability to anticipate throws, drive on the ball, and finish. He is ultra-fluid in his change of direction and has the ability to match up with tight ends in man coverage. He has the best ball skills of any safety I've ever evaluated in college. He is also a threat to score every time he touches the ball. Against the run, he is quick to key, read and fill the alley. He does have some fly-by missed tackles, but overall he's reliable in this area. Hooker has the potential to be one of the league's best safeties very early in his NFL career.

NFL Mock Draft: Browns pass on QBs for stud defenders Myles Garrett, Malik Hooker

Hooker looks like top-10 pick, but his injury and rehab schedule could lead to a slight fall on draft day

With his recent labrum and hernia surgeries, Ohio State safety Malik Hooker went from a top-10 lock to a wild card in the 2017 NFL Draft. NFL teams will find out more about the severity of the injuries at the NFL combine and also get a better idea of his rehab schedule. Early projections have him out four to six months, which means he might not be 100 percent ready for training camp.

While it is unlikely that Hooker will experience a freefall on draft weekend, his misfortune could end up being a blessing for a team picking outside the top 10, like the Browns at No. 12. Cleveland desperately needs a ball-hawking safety in the secondary and while it previously appeared unlikely that the former Ohio State safety would be an option, Cleveland might be in play now.

12. Cleveland Browns (from Philadelphia)
Malik Hooker, FS, Ohio State: The Browns need an overhaul in the secondary and are missing a true ball hawk in the deep half of the field. Hooker would be a natural fit and his recent injuries could wind up being a blessing for Cleveland.

Malik Hooker came to Columbus as a three-star athlete from New Castle, Penn. in 2014. He left as a surefire first-round draft pick after one year of starting.

Hooker's name will be called by an NFL team in Philadelphia next month. Hooker, however, won't see it live. Thursday, he told Pro Football Talk Live he plans to skip the draft in order to watch it with family and friends.
