Ohio State Announces Update On CB Shaun Wade

Ohio State football is planning on star cornerback Shaun Wade suiting up this fall, but it’s not a done deal just yet.

Once the Big Ten decided to postpone the fall football season until early 2021, several top prospects within the Ohio State program had a decision to make. For Wade, entering the 2021 NFL Draft and foregoing remaining collegiate eligibility was the obvious choice considering the latest mock draft projections.

But the Big Ten’s decision to reverse course and play football this fall sparked Wade to have a change of heart. He’s since changed his mind about foregoing his collegiate eligibility to prepare for the draft. Wade has returned to Columbus where he hopes to suit up for the Buckeyes this fall.

Unfortunately, Wade can’t practice yet. The Buckeyes expect he’ll be able to practice soon, but he still has to go through COVID-19 protocol before he can strap up the pads.

Wade is awaiting COVID-19 test results. Buckeye Scoop has the latest, as seen below.

There doesn’t seem to be much concern regarding Shaun Wade’s chances of regaining eligibility. But you never quite know when it comes to the NCAA. The only other hurdle appears to be the COVID-19 testing results.

The Big Ten still hasn’t implemented rapid COVID-19 testing. It’s expected to be implemented conference-wide soon.

Thought Wade played a great first game as our primary cover guy. He covered really well downfield and seemed to be one of the only players sealing the edge on what could have been more long runs for the Huskers.

Bestbuck36 Kyle Young man crush. Not ashamed

Lmao, they tried him once early then realized that was a bad idea. He's only going to get better as the season progresses.

I highly doubt opposing teams are going to throw Wade's way much the rest of the year. Might be like Shawn Spring's last year here, from what I recall teams hardly ever threw his way (I was pretty young then).

Those who tried, failed. There was a matter of a slip, but that game is not his cross to bear

Wade should draw Dotson a lot this week. Consider that guy a non factor.

You have to hope we put Werner on their TE considering the success he had last year.

Maybe, but on the 2-pass touchdown drive, Wade was right there but Dotson made 2 great individual plays. On the last touchdown to Dotson it looked to me like Wade was expecting help over the top from Hooker that arrive late.

Right; not bestowing vitriol or anything. Just saying it might seem a bit different for him to be working with a sideline etc.

Dotson might be the best receiver he faces until dec

Same. I thought he struggled tonight even though I'm not saying he's bad or anything. He's got to just bat those balls down. He was there just has to make a play.

I dont like how pressed we are playing. I think last year with a small 5 yard cushion is best for our corners
