DB Shaun Wade (1st Team All American, New England Patriots)

Same. I thought he struggled tonight even though I'm not saying he's bad or anything. He's got to just bat those balls down. He was there just has to make a play.

I dont like how pressed we are playing. I think last year with a small 5 yard cushion is best for our corners

That's my assessment as well. He is right there and Dotson made some plays for the most part. That said, Wade needs to improve big time from that performance and I hope it was just a bad game. Need Wade to play at an elite level like Okudah to compete if we get to the playoffs.

Yeah and it's Banks as well. One thing I've noticed in our two games is we are allowing guys to cut across our face really easily. The TD vs Banks and the last TD vs Wade were just simple post or 10 and in routes.

There was a long 3rd down conversion Corn had too that I remember thinking "that's the most ran route to get a first down why was it so easy?"

Just an x and o thing but I don't understand why more schools dont shade their DBs a little inside to take that away. Most QBs dont have the strength or timing to laser out routes. Drives me insane to see so many in/slant/sit routes wide open in football.

He seems to go up to make picks but he isn't in better position than the WR's to do so and they just pluck it right from him. Either get in position to make the play or punish/seperate the WR from the ball. Right now, he's not doing either.

Ohio State cornerback Shaun Wade is disappointed in himself.

The preseason All-American who came back to Ohio State for one final season at outside cornerback after a couple of years on the inside at slot cornerback never has a lack of confidence, and that doesn’t change whether he plays his best game or his worst game. The disappointment is always there.

Why? He’s one of the best players, a projected first-round pick, playing one of the biggest roles for one of the country’s best teams. But the disappointment of every game hangs over him. Because for Wade, one mistake in a game is too many.

“You’re going to be disappointed when you want to be great,” Wade said Tuesday on a Zoom call with reporters. “At the end of the day, I’m always going to be disappointed, even when I have a great game, I’m going to know one play that y’all don’t see that I probably could’ve done better at. I just want to get better. That’s all I care about. Me getting better and this team.”

“I feel like most chances I’ll be in position — just playing the ball in the air,” Wade said Tuesday. “You’re going to get caught on, the greatest got caught on. It happens. You’ve got to snap and clear and play the next play. But really, all I care about is winning.”

Coombs said that sometimes players will make plays on the outside and that he has no concerns with how Wade has played.

“If you’re going to play corner — particularly if you’re going to play corner at Ohio State — you have to have a short memory,” Coombs said Nov. 3. “You have to understand by the nature of the defense there’s going to be pressure on you every single down and you have to step up and make plays.”

Have a strong feeling that he has his best game this week and it really turns the game on it's end with everyone else able to just pin their ears back and get after Penix.

Indiana's defense wont stop Fields and Co. Hell, I don't think anyone can stop Fields and Co., except Fields.

And if not.....he'll win the Thorpe, since it goes to the guy who had the most hype pre-season and completely ignores on field results.

great read and jumped the route. Huge play in the game. Maybe the biggest.

Still have a lot of concerns with him on balls in the air and not challenging Wr's for it. Every 50/50 ball he is falling away and not in position to make a play. It's hard to describe, but it isn't just WR's making great plays. He is there, but he just won't challenge for the ball or even attempt to separate the ball from the receiver. Puzzling.

Thats his strength, making the read and jumping the route or making a hit as the ball gets there. He's getting beat on jump balls and 50/50's which are not his strengths. I'd bite the bullet at this point and put him back in the slot and bring up a youngster like Cavazos and play a safety over the top. Banks isn't playing that bad so keep him on one side and sort out the other. At least if they do that, they'll know the slot is covered because I think Shaun will spark again and those aforementioned blitzes are a thing of beauty.

Yep, I think moving him back inside to his strengths would be better for the team and for his draft stock.
