Wade is the most game-ready DB in this class imo. I would be shocked if he didn't play next year and would not be surprised to see him lock down a starting spot (assuming Conley and Lattimore leave). Not only is he a freak athlete and physical, but he has great technique. I would think Ward likely locks down one spot and Wade is in the thick of it for the other.

And at the very least, he starts in the slot

Arnette will be tough to beat out but I agree he'll likely see a fair amount of pt

True freshmen CB's just don't start at Ohio State though. Look at our best corners recently: Conley, Lattimore(though he never had an option due to injuries), Ward, Apple, Grant, Roby, Chekwa, Washington, etc. all either redshirted or primarily played on special teams as true frosh. The last one to see significant PT on defense was Jenkins, a 2-time All-American and Thorpe winner.

There's a steep learning curve at that position no matter how talented the player is. Wade's potential is through the roof but due to the nature of the position combined with Arnette's talent/experience, I'll be surprised if he grabs a starting spot. Maybe as a nickelback?

They do when Eli Apple ('17 sr), Gareon Conley ('17 sr), Marshon Lattimore ('17 jr) all go pro.

Arnette, Norwood, Davis, Burns are all that stand in the way of 2017 recruits starting. Like you pointed out, they could both start if you factor in the nickelback spot.
Look at our best corners recently: Conley, Lattimore(though he never had an option due to injuries), Ward, Apple, Grant, Roby, Chekwa, Washington, etc. all either redshirted or primarily played on special teams as true frosh. The last one to see significant PT on defense was Jenkins, a 2-time All-American and Thorpe winner.

I tend to agree with the principle of what you're saying, but I think the circumstances may change that. Also, if they can land Kendall Sheffield, that changes the learning curve a bit, since 2017 would be his third year removed from HS.

I would also add that none of the guys you listed were as highly rated as the potential top 3 DB's coming in the 17' class.

I see this stated a lot. Pace beat out an established Korey Stringer at LT, moving him to RT. I don't know if Jordan beating out Knox and Burrell at a guard position, who apparently didn't pan out, compares to that. Please note that I am in no way diminishing Jordan's accomplishment. I just don't see a Pace comparison.

You do bring up an interesting point, I didn't realize that we hadn't had a true frosh start there in awhile. But as I think jwins pointed out, there has typically been more seniority at the position. If either of Conley or Lattimore came back, no way I say that about Wade. But corner is a position where some true freshmen have made big impacts and I think Shaun can do just that given the circumstances.
