With the amount of teams playing spread, I'm sure he'll get ample PT. And if Arnette and Sheffield are lost next year, I can see him and Okudah being the next in line starters. Wade looked really good yesterday. Elite defenses will need at least 4 solid CBs to stop elite CFB offenses

The Wade way
The defensive back seven for OSU still has some kinks to work out— to put it mildly. More often than not, McSorley was the catalyst behind big plays once he got away from the line of scrimmage. If he took off, there was almost always plenty of green in front of him. In the first quarter, he was able to break off a 51-yard keeper virtually untouched. His 93-yard TD connection to K.J. Hamler came off of a perfect slant route, that just tore up the middle of the Buckeye secondary.
Even through the miscuses, there was one shining star from the visiting secondary: Shaun Wade. He didn’t tally any tackles, but he stuck like glue to wide receivers and recorded two pass breakups.
If Wade didn’t play as tight of defense as he did, McSorley would’ve had a couple more passes completed— and that could’ve been the difference maker. Especially against a pass-happy team, Wade has the ability to cause havoc by clamping down on receivers. In that tweet above, he did about as good of a job as you could’ve done guarding Hamler, who caught four passes for 168 yards on Saturday night (including that 93-yarder).
Limiting playmakers (and big plays) has been a problem all season for Ohio State. Maybe keeping Wade in the secondary— some how or some way— will help solve the problem.

Though he gave up the biggest play of the game, Shaun Wade does seem to be our best corner mano y mano... I really tried to like Damon Arnette this year, but to me that kid is just out of position at corner... on the other hand Wade nd Okudah will both be all-americans in time

I'm struggling to figure out why Wade doesn't get more minutes.
I'm not as negative on Arnette as many fans here, as I like his aggressiveness and sure tackling. But his skill set just seems better suited to playing safety, whereas Wade is sticky as fuck. Just an excellent football player.

Still the best cover guy and I don't think it's debatable. Maybe Sheffield because we never hear his name but I'm comfortable with he and Okudah playing out wide and letting Sheffield and his speed play deep middle with Fuller playing the slot guy/TE. The recognition of the other safeties is disturbing. Maybe we're just spoiled after Malik Hooker but it's appalling that guys funnel plays to the safety and they are nowhere to be found.
To be fair Shaun got beat on that slant but it should have been safety help right away and up the middle where Wade trailed him. He just blew by the safety help and was gone. That has to stop freaking happening.

Shaun Wade Will Play Wherever, He Just Wants to Play
Shaun Wade came to Ohio State last year with high expectations as a 5-star prospect and the second-ranked cornerback in the 2017 recruiting class. His freshman year, however, did not go as planned.
Wade suffered an abdominal injury early last year which required surgery and sidelined him for his entire freshman season. Now healthy, Wade has already made an impact on the field for the Buckeyes this season.
With his athleticism and skill set, Wade has seen the field at three different positions in the secondary — cornerback, strong safety, and nickel. His versatility has been a plus, but his position still remains somewhat undefined. Regardless, he is a guy that has been praised by head coach Urban Meyer and has earned his playing time this season.
Last year, however, Wade struggled with not being able to contribute, but cornerback classmate Jeff Okudah was impressed with how Wade handled himself throughout that difficult time.
“He never complained one time, he just put his head down and worked hard everyday,” Okudah said.
That was also the mindset for Wade as he was coming back from the injury. His focus was on what was next for him and his role on the team. He knew that he had to work hard at both his rehabilitation and his play once he was healthy.
“Last year just having to sit and watch with an injury, it was a tough year,” Wade said. “This year I came in and just wanted to work hard and get on the field in some type of way.”
After conversations with coaches before coming back this season, Wade said they knew he had the skills to succeed and get on the field, he just had to go hard. From that point on, that became his mentality. He never doubted himself or his ability to step up and play.
And now as a major contributor, Wade has seen the field in many different forms, including one that he never expected when coming to Ohio State.
“I’ve been playing corner since I got here, but I’m learning safety now and just trying to get the basics down,” Wade said.
The conversations initially started after the first game.
“Coach Grinch came to me, I want to say after the first game on that Sunday practice, asking me ‘Have you ever played safety before?’ I told him no and he was like, ‘Well, would you be willing to play it?’ and I was like ‘Yeah,’” Wade said. “I just want to be on the field and help the team, that’s all.”
