DB Sirjo Welch (official thread)

BK has an article on BSB titled "Welch Ready to Sign With Buckeyes." Leads me to believe everything is A OK with him. If this is true, somebody owes this kid a huge apology for making statements without first speaking with him.

By and large the posters on message boards owe apologies to every recruit, every player, every coach, every guru and most other posters. Our irresponsibility knows no bounds.

We not only had folks spreading the rumor on Welch, we had them bashing the coaches for being irresponsible on both he and Williams.

Today someone on Bucknuts tried to start the old thread "With all these folks coming in what players do you think will transfer?"

Clarity - perhaps you cold start the first Message Board that requires an IQ test before you are allowed to post.

Oh8 -- lol, don't tempt me.

We'll find creative ways to avoid the idiocy that comes with size. I'd still like a little more frequency of conversation and even debate here, but that's a slippery slope. As BNuts has proven, with size comes bigger headaches and louder trolls. If only that were their only problem. This very thread touches on another, and then you have attacks launched from one staffer to another -- well, I'm probably better off not even talking about it (woops, too late). I think I bring it up more often than I want or intend to because it's sort of a disturbing decline to witness.

We have over here a core group of people who don't always agree on specific issues, but overall have an appreciation for at last basic common sense and decency being applied to posting. Doesn't mean we all have to think alike here, that would just be boring, but does mean that there at least seems to be a common atmosphere that we used to enjoy elsewhere but don't now. If I have to mod every single one of these core people, or form some sort of committee where tools can be voted out of the chest, then that's what we'll do. But the day this place becomes something I'd actually fear a coach or player seeing is the day I don't want to run it anymore. So we're going to make a point to avoid just that.

Amen Clarity!

I think if (and when) players look at the forums at BN there could be some negative effects. I get so tired of stupid threads from people who have no clue as to what is going on. Yet they feel the need to constantly voice their opinion and show their ignorance (no, I will not name names). I noticed that someone recently attached the Quote "Better to be silent and let people think you are a fool then to open you mouth and remove all doubt", wow does that really apply to a bunch of people.

Might as well go ahead and post a few more things here. Sirjo is a good safety I thought, the one thing that stood out is when he gets to the ball carrier the play is over. It may be a huge hit, form tackle, or a rodeo tackle either way the play is done. Guess thats what you want in a safety though....

He has been an animal on special teams. The knock on him in HS was that he played like a linebacker in a safety's body. He's an animal in run support but he is mediocre in pass coverage.

Sirjo has a nasty streak and a nose for the ball. If he works on his coverage technique, we've definately got another great DB.

salley who hasn't made a play on a deep ball all year. :2004:
