Greg Schiano (HC Rutgers Scarlet Knights)

You realize he's consistently a good to great defense while working with 3 star kids right?

He's Brent Venables working with half the talent. If we somehow got Bud Foster (which we wont) it'd be the best hire Urban has ever made.

By far.
I mean if you want to play that card then Schiano’s defense has been mostly good to great in the limited amount of time he’s been here. Last year he still finished with a top 10 defense despite the Iowa debacle. Point is that, if we’re to judge each coach by his ugliest losses, then Foster has several uglier losses than Schiano.

If Old Dominion was actually a good FCS school like App State all those years ago I’d be more inclined to give him a pass. They’re fucking wretched. Rutgers would beat them by 3 TDs.

So ignoring the obvious talent gap intentionally or....?

Are you honestly making the argument that there isn't a massive talent gap between VaTech and Old Dominion?

I'm comparing talent gap between tOSU and VaTech on defense. Your question would entail asking the difference between the VaTech defense and OD offense.... in an era that increasingly favors offense.

To circle back around to my point since you moved away from the one game sample size mentioning Foster
having a few more bad games than Schiano - is that not to be expected given the talent discrepancy then...? (Between tOSU and VaTech defenses)

To answer your original question - yes, I think VaTech has more talent than OD. As they say, any given day.

But Im starting to believe Schiano gets by simply from outclassing his opponents with talent and little else.
