Greg Schiano (HC Rutgers Scarlet Knights)

I guess im saying i dont think either of them, individually, is a problem. But defense just doesnt seem to have a cohesive vision.
I dont know that either is Withers but not sure the defense will function with 2 Chiefs ... and we know Schiano wants to be a Head Coach. He either needs to commit as DC here longterm or find that opportunity before next season imo.

Agreed.

The Co-___ / Assistant - ____ we've been trying to make work for ages, doesn't work. It also failed with Withers and Fickell, and it failed the offense too when we tried it with Warinner and Wilson. I was reading on 11W earlier about how we need to promote LJ and make him Co-DC, or hire back Coombs as Co-DC/Assistant HC, or so on and so forth.

For the love of god - choose one guy to be DC, one guy to be LBs coach, and one to two guys to coach the secondary. If it's good enough for Bill Belichik and Nick Saban, it should be good enough for us too.

I have always interpreted the "co" stuff as a mechanism to reflect career status/affect pay moreso than some arbitrary way they have to share decision making/play calling.

Chemistry, or lack thereof, of a coaching staff is an issue that has always been there and will always be there. Something was clearly off this year on the defensive side but I don't think the titles have much to do with it.

Who knows?

I think there's something to this when I think of it. To me we just look confused on defense and I think having one voice/leader could really help.

It might totally be a cohesion issue, both are highly regarded defensive coaches but maybe just don't mesh. But I really don't see GS being here beyond a year because you are right, he will want to be a head coach sooner rather than later...now would probably be that time but he is not a hot commodity after this season.

FUUUUUUUCK..... nothing pisses me off more than "the refs robbed us" and "the SEC plays a pussy schedule"..... dammit to hell.

Execute. Turn to the ball (coaching and discipline) and wrap the receiver (did I mention coaching and discipline) and good things will come.

Godalmighty...... since when does tOSU whine like this?

I really think that we have lost so much talent and maturity on the defensive side of the ball that it finally caught up to us this year. Bosa going down and Coombs leaving was also a big blow. If Schiano leaves that will be yet another change. I liked Coach Days comment about the D playing sound and simple. This is what we need more than anything imho.

Honestly, I'm ok with a full on "fresh blood -youth movement" on this staff - sans LJ. Bring on the the smartest, freshest minds in college football and pay them to stay. Then add about 15 "advisors" to solidify the entire thing. Bama keeps doing it and they keep getting invited to the fucking CFP. Let's move forward into the next era of great OSU defenses.

Nothing? Not even people making up things and then arguing against them?

Agree.

Zero scholarship seniors on D.

Zero.

There is more to it than that. But there is that.

Still - Grinch needs to have his day, but we need to get thru early signing period before we disrupt the coaching staff more than we already have.
