East
DE Chase Young, Hyattsville (Md.) Dematha Catholic

There are a ton of worthy prospects in the East for this honor, but the at the top is five-star defensive end Chase Young. He is 6-foot-5 1/2, 228 pounds, and incredibly explosive and athletic. The Ohio State commit is lightning fast at the snap of the ball and he can get around the edge, he changes direction like some linebackers and he has incredible length. A high school player or that size and length should not be able to move with such suddenness, explosiveness and control, but Young does it.

I was lucky enough to see Chase and Dematha tonight against a Harrisburg "power house". Bishop McDevitt is usually a quality team, but they're in a down swing this year. Dematha as the #5 team in the country should've killed McD....but McD hung around until the 4th quarter.

I went to this game with the sole purpose of watching Chase. He was OK. A lot of the McD plays were run away from his side....but I expected more from the #2 DE in the 2017 class. He showed some flashes later in the game when the McD line was gassed, but I went in expecting a Noah Spence type performance. Hopefully this was a case of the much more talented DC school not being thrilled to travel all the way to Harrisburg to play a weaker opponent.
