This is like having 2 commits in one day, because, well, um, I heard of two different commits today. Twice the excitement.

I am not going to be sitting there watching my TV talking about how pressure is needed. I will be sitting there in stunned amazement.

And again, he had offers from everybody except MSU, MSU-AA, and Arkansas. It does not get any better than that, except for maybe this:

"I know that you can't say (the team up north's) name and I know when we beat them we get the gold pants and my mom will get my first (pair)," Holmes said.

The only tragedy here is that, with re-alignment, he will not get to beat MSU-AA twice in one season.

HUGE HUGE HUGE...biggest commit so far since Webb. Holmes is easily a top 5 DE in the country, I think the world of his ability...what I said above ^ still goes...my favorite rush end in this class. Amazing first step, great frame, and ungodly athleticism, plus some great moves off the ball. Our DL is going to be scary good. Welcome aboard Jalyn! :osu:

Jalyn Holmes and his dad, Jermaine Taylor, grew up huge Florida State fans.

So when Holmes, a standout defensive end at Lake Taylor, narrowed his choices to Florida State, Ohio State and Clemson, Taylor thought his son was going to choose their favorite team.

Holmes, 6-foot-5 and 235 pounds, instead chose Ohio State. He announced his decision Thursday night in front of family, coaches, teammates and friends in Lake Taylor's auditorium.

Holmes said what swayed him was how comfortable he felt at Ohio State.

"It felt like home when I got there," said Holmes, rated the No. 31 prospect nationally by MaxPreps and No. 44 by 247Sports. "The players really took me in and showed me around. It felt like family there."

Another factor was how Ohio State coaches talked about how they would prepare him for life after football.

"It's wonderful that he's going somewhere not just for football but to get a quality education," said Holmes' mother, Tasha Holmes. "That's the most important thing."

It was a decision his father agreed with.

"I'm a huge FSU fan and Jalyn is a huge FSU fan since he was little," he said. "We always talked about him going there since he was yay high. So when he told me about what Ohio State was doing and what Florida State wasn't doing it was kind of a bittersweet moment."

Lake Taylor coach Hank Sawyer said it was a proud day for the Titan family.

"It's exciting because I've never had a kid go to Ohio State," he said. "Urban Meyer is a great coach and they have a great tradition. We're excited for him."

Holmes said his goal now is to lead the Titans to another Group AAA Division 5 state title.

"Now I'm going to focus on Oscar Smith," he said, referring to Lake Taylor's season opener. "But it's good to be done."
