DE Jamal Marcus (Official Thread)

Clearly Meyer is going after several linebackers, I'm guessing, hoping for two before closing the door on that position...I agree that they could use a couple more ball hawkers. With Shazier really stepping up, and Grant on the horizon as an impact player, if they could grab two more qb-slingin' LB in this class to go with their DE haul, imagine how wicked the push will be with regards to this defensive front.

Living down here in the Triangle, the rumblings were all that this kid was close to Weathers with regards to recruiting, and that his move to Ohio State was one of the top reasons that he's veering towards the Bucks. Fedora can recruit though, so they are still very much in play.

I'm guessing tOSU has about six more slots left...and I'm sure Meyer will use that knowledge on the trail to let these top guys know that they had better give him at least a silent verbal soon if they want in on the Urban Meyer freight train...

Wow is this fun..

Spence is now on board. Wow. If we only get one more defensive player, Marcus is the one I want. His film is one of the best I've ever seen and there's no Oline in the country that will be able to deal with the DLine Meyer has put together and the linebackers we would have like Shazier and Marcus.

This guy would send the front 7 over the moon!!

Emerging prospect

Outside of the Carolinas, little was known about defensive end/linebacker Jamal Marcus of Durham Hillside (N.C.) before last week, even though he claimed offers from Ohio State and Florida. Well, now those of us who had never seen Marcus in person know why those schools like him. Because he's 6-2, 219 pounds, Marcus projects as an outside linebacker in college, and he had an excellent week of practice at that spot. He's a guy who can rush the passer or drop into coverage, and be good at both. What most impresses is his reaction time and closing speed. He's a player who typically is all over the field.

Jamal Marcus (6?2/225) looked like he had been playing outside linebacker for years on Saturday. He spent nearly his entire high school career playing defensive end, but seems to be comfortable playing in space. Marcus is an explosive athlete with a great motor. He had three tackles, one quarterback hurry, and two pass break-ups. One of the most underrated players in the state, Marcus, appears to be locked in on four schools. Ohio State, Florida, North Carolina, and East Carolina are all in contention for his services. He will take an official visit to East Carolina (Jan. 13-15), Florida (Jan. 20-22), and possibly Ohio State (Jan. 27-29).
