I know we've got depth beyond just Cooper and Young, but I've got a feeling those two are hoping to wreak havoc together and Cooper breaks out with improved consistency. Also helps that the interior of our DL is going to be redonkulous this year, going to free up our ends.

if the LB scheme/coaching is improved, I expect a vastly improved defense overall with the depth and talent that is on this DL and the improvement in secondary play we saw the last quarter of the season. Anticipating the Silver Bullets living up to their name again this fall. Young and Cooper will surely play a big part in that if it occurs.

ShowMeBuck You know what? Chicken butt.

Heard something about him a while back that I didn’t realize may be holding him back somewhat. He doesn’t have ideal length.

I don’t think that should be a reason. Remember a guy named Corey Moore that played at Va Tech? Was a 5’11” DE and had 32 sacks in two seasons. Other guys that come to mind are James Harrison, Aaron Donald, etc...

At the end of last season it looked like the light had finally turned on for him. This is his "money year" so I hope he plays with a continual fire.

Physically he looks better than he ever has though. I won't lie if he doesn't get 6+ sacks this season it's not a great year.

I think he explodes onto the scene and gets himself a decent draft grade.

Solid contributor but has never had a breakout year. Hopefully this will be the year. One thing is for certain, he has some up and coming younger guys nipping at his heels.

Ohio State has officially named its captains for the 2019 season.

Senior safety Jordan Fuller and redshirt junior linebacker Tuf Borland, who are both returning captains from 2018, will be joined by J.K. Dobbins, Chase Young, K.J. Hill, C.J. Saunders and Jonathon Cooper as Ohio State's formal leaders for 2019, Buckeyes coach Ryan Day announced Monday.

Fuller is entering his third season as a starting safety for the Buckeyes and is one of the team's most experienced players, having played 39 games in his Ohio State career. Off the field, Fuller has been named an Academic All-American and an AFCA Good Works Team nominee.

Borland has played in all 28 of Ohio State's games over the past two seasons, including 20 starts at middle linebacker. He had 58 total tackles as a redshirt freshman in 2017, then recorded 67 tackles last season despite missing most of the spring and summer with an Achilles injury. Already a captain for the second time with another season of eligibility remaining after this one, Borland now has a chance to become Ohio State's second-ever three-time captain, a feat that has only been achieved by J.T. Barrett.

J.K. Dobbins, Chase Young, K.J. Hill, C.J. Saunders and Jonathon Cooper are all captains for the first time in their Ohio State careers.

Not a position where we can afford injuries. That being said, Ty Smith, Friday and Jean-Baptiste (maybe Harrison?) are going to get some time in the spotlight I expect. Heal up quick Coop.

So he has a high ankle sprain but he also had surgery on the ankle? Is that common?

    It is now

Orthopedic Surgeons now have procedures available to them that tighten joints; procedures that were unheard of only ten years ago. Prognosis is usually good, but of course I don’t know enough specifics to say how long it might take

Did not know that. Thx. Thought it was just something you had to rest.
