DE/LB Thaddeus Gibson (official thread)

Anybody know the story behind Joshua Tatum? Why would tOSU not be in on a linebacker, ranked the #24 player in the country, who is the nephew of Jack Tatum?
I've heard conflicting reports as to whether or not he is actually tatum's relative...

From Rivals.com...although not a member of the Top 100, Thad has been named to Rivals Top 250.

Ohio's top linebacker is highly-respected by the state's high school coaches, who rated him one of the top 26 players in the Buckeye State last season. His own coach cites his explosiveness as one of his top traits.

Gibson recently attended camp at USC but admits that it is to far away from home for him. Ohio State, Michigan, Pittsburgh, Wisconsin, Iowa, Illinois, West Virginia, Purdue, North Carolina have offered. He did not list any favorites but does say that most of his family wants him to attend OSU and that OSU will be near the top of the list.

I would be highly surprised if he ended up anywhere besides OSU. He always speaks very high of us and is closer to us than scUM. I am not too worried about him going anywhere I think he is about as close to lock as we have right now.

Apparently Bush and Leinart hung out with Gibson, that should tell you how special this kid is right there...
but yet he left without an offer... so i'm not sure how serious they are about him. he's claiming that it's too far away from home anyways, so maybe it's a moot point.

I doubt you get both of those Heisman finalists out if you aren't serious about him... they probably realize what everyone else realizes, that he's going to OSU. Pete might be a sneaky guy, but he's not dumb. No need to cheapen Bradford's offer either, and end up sending us him too :)

Gibson claims not top five or a leader but is looking at Ohio State, Miami (no offer), Iowa and Michigan. Iowa is recruiting him the hardest at this point. He has offers from Iowa, West Virginia, Wisconsin, North Carolina, Ohio State, Michigan, Boston College, Purdue, Bowling Green, Miami of Ohio and Akron.

i wonder why iowa is recruiting him harder than osu, if thad went anywhere else it would be a huge blow because we are counting on him to be a buckeye and replace the starters we lose this year, and who is there that we would replace him w/?

Keep in mind that many thought he seemed headed to OSU, and probably did not need as much persuasion from JT's staff. This doesn't mean they were slacking, I'm saying that Iowa and others have to go overboard to hope to pull him out of Ohio. OSU may be better suited not putting on a fullcourt blitz if that's not the right approach for this guy (he's sort fo quiet, seems laid back, might not want recruiting to consume his life... unlike someone like Aaron Brown)
