DE/LB Thaddeus Gibson (official thread)

its good to see scUM out of consideration....

Its amazing how Iowa has truly become a recruiting power in the midwest. They kick ass in Illinois and the western part of the region, seriously taking talent away from ND. even in Ohio they have seem to become a worthy recruiting advesary...although we win most of the battles.

Chat from SGN:
BrutusBuckeye11 says to (2005-8-10 13:0:25):
Nevada- If we get Moeller to commit and mostly likely Gibson that will give us 3 LB commits for '06, plus Lenix coming in, would we still take a Bowman or Hunter or would we be done at the LB position?

NevadaBuck says to (2005-8-10 13:59:16):
when we get Moeller(which we will)--as well as Gibson(which we will) I still think they take one more...

Nevada is predicting Gibson and Moeller to the Bucks, that should ease any worries.:)

Here's a link to the entire chat.

Thaddeus says tOSU, Iowa, Miami, and Michigan are his top four schools. Kirk Ferentz is sending handwritten letters daily as Iowa is putting on the full court press.
What could you possibly have to say everyday that would be interesting to a kid? That seems like it would be obnoxious to me.

Hello Thaddeus,

Today we had another practice. It went okay, pretty much the same as any other practice. Oh, Drew Tate threw a ball and hit a coach in the head, that gave everyone a good laugh. The weather is nice, I hope it stays this way for the rest of practice. Well, I've got to go break down some film now, so I will write to you tomorrow.

Your friend,
Kirk

P.S. please commit to Iowa.

Daily handwritten letters, hell, sounds like he's trying to get a new girlfriend or something.

Poems would be a nice touch too, he should put poems in his daily handwritten letters.

Leave your home state
Cause Iowa is great
You'll be a star
But your mom will have to drive real far
To see you play
But hey
I'm writing you a daily letter
And that makes Iowa better

(yeah it sucks real bad I know)

wasn't anyone listening to the Bucknuts radio hour last week? TG said he gives himself a 99% chance of landing with the Buckeyes.
My take: he goes to tOSU immediately upon receiving his test score. my guess is he is keeping his options open in case for some reason tOSU tells him his score isn't good enough. Iowa will take lower scores than we are willing to take, hence Chris Rowell last year. he has said numerous times that Brandon Smith is his best friend, which can only help our chances (which look to be very solid anyway).

I worry about Gibson about as much as I worry about Ray Small, which is to say not at all.

I think it is a sham that Hunter was rated ahead of Gibson. Gibson not only has the better upside and discipline, but was much more impressive on video. The first two on the list are hard to deny, but my list would have looked like this:

1. Allen Bradford
2. Marcus Ball
3. Akeem Hebron
4. Thad Gibson
5. Michael Morgan
6. Anthony Lewis
7. A.J. Jones
8. Derrick Odom
9. Chasman Davis
10. Bani Gbadyu

Hunter would have been somewhere between 11 and 15...
