I realize most of you are fans with limited experience actually studying film, but the 4-2 is common in college football because of the spread This year, at times, we have reduced the box to 5. l realize we don't have the LB's and CB's we have had in the past, but we still have talent. I think schematically we have been ineffective this year, particularly earlier in the season. If felt we were better against Mich St, but the running QB hurt us a couple of times, and because of the score, they went away from it.
To beat scUM, which at this point has to be our primary goal, we are going to have to bring 7 in the box at times, and still be able to handle their spread packages without subbing every situational change. I think we can do that, but scUM is a tough challenge because they not only play old school football, but they have a dual threat QB. We have got to continue to get more physical and play better gap integrity if we are going to be scUM. With that said, I think it takes 35 to beat them this year.
