Denver Nuggets (official thread)

And tonight the Nuggets made it 13 in a row with a solid win at OKC. Denver was in control the entire second half, and at times made the Thunder look very vulnerable. Yes it has been a quiet win streak in the national media. However there is only so much time in the day, and the Heat's 23 in a row, and Tiger and Lindsey are just too big of stories to hold down. I am certain the rest of the western conference has taken notice to how Denver is playing.
And the top story on the ESPN NBA page was about the Lakers. The old man Andre Miller was tough at the end of that game.

I am continually amazed with Miller. At this point he is not an athletic freak at point guard(never was), but plays so smartly and mostly under control. Last night in the 4th quarter Miller repeatedly posted up Reggie Jackson for scores or fouls to sustain the lead. He is by far their most skilled post threat. Probably the best in the NBA in his half of the alley-oop. A perfect compliment to Ty Lawson's jet-speed game.

Nuggets with an amazing and lucky comeback against the 76ers, scored 6 points in the last 9.2 seconds, including Brewer sinking three free throws after being unbelievably fouled on a three with 2 seconds left. Sadly, ET missed two free throws in there with line drive clunkers that he used to do from time to time when he was with the Buckeyes. Streak is now 14-in-a-row.

I only saw the last few seconds of that one, and the Nuggets were indeed fortunate. What is exciting about Denver is that a different player or couple of players really stand out each night. The team is very deep and talented, but like the national broadcasters say on every telecast, with "no real superstar". Last night it was Corey Brewer with the monster game.

Nine years in Denver, eight first round exits. Including four in a row. I'm not surprised. The guy cannot coach his teams to post season success anymore. Not sure they can do better, but they gotta try something...

The story of Nikola Jokic: Discarded by Barcelona and picked while a taco was on screen

Jokic's amazing journey

When the Serbian was picked 41st overall in the 2014 draft, there was a Taco Bell advert playing at the time. That's how little fanfare there was about his pick.

There were also concerns about his physique early on in his career.

"It's true, he didn't have a sexy body," Nuggets general manager Tim Connelly even admitted.

Now, Jokic has improved his physique, losing 20 kilograms during the lockdown and getting to the point where he even admitted that he might be too light.

"Nikola has worked tirelessly to become the player that he is and we are unbelievably lucky to have him leading our franchise," Connelly said this week after the MVP announcement.

"He is an elite individual on and off the court who is surrounded by a loving and supportive family that have helped make this day possible."
