Glad to see an offer go out to a WR with some size. No WRs above 6'2" currently on the roster.

I think Michael Thomas is over 6'2, I know before coming onto the team he was being listed at 6'4 I believe.

There were rumblings either last week or early this week that Kief had committed to UK but those turned out to be false. I think even a local TV station announced it thinking it was legit.

I think we are overlooking the fact that the kid already has a rap song about him and he isn't even a senior in high school yet. He has to be good.

Hahaha, I was just about to post the same thing. Lyrics were funny too.

"All the girls from McAuley know the Lancers roll deep." (That's the all girls school a couple miles away.)

His highlight video is really impressive. Some of the catches he makes on poorly thrown balls are incredible. Great size too. I'm curious how fast he is, but he looks like he has good speed.

I know at this point he isn't a national recruit at this point like Drake Harris is, but he looks very similar on video.

When I saw kiefs film and size, I immediately thought of:

Robo was a big WR that ran really good routes, but his bestal attribute were his hands, like kief. Neither are speedsters, but right now we need a player or 2 that is a possession WR, that can get in space and also outjump DBs. Hed be more of a safety valve for braxton or jt. The best friends of mobile QBs are usually lean, fast TEs or possession WRs

La Salle WR Derek Kief taking recruiting journey in stride despite 16 scholarship offers

La Salle junior wide receiver Derek Kief was surprised with the arrival of three scholarship offers all on the same day this week.

But, while he is genuinely pleased with the additional offers, he is still keeping his recruiting journey in perspective.

Kief was called out of English class March 7 and spoke with Alabama head coach Nick Saban for about 25 minutes on the phone near lunch time. Alabama became Kief?s 14th offer and Saban extolled the aspects of the Crimson Tide program, Kief said.

Alabama, which had been showing interest the past few weeks, was one of three offers Kief received March 7. West Virginia and Wisconsin followed up later that night bringing Kief?s total offer count to 16 before this weekend.

Kief, who is 6 feet 5 and 190 pounds, also has offers from UC, Ohio State, Vanderbilt, Ohio University, Maryland, Bowling Green, Kent State, Kentucky, Northwestern, Boston College, Indiana, Illinois and Toledo.

Kief was scheduled to visit Northwestern this weekend and plans to visit Alabama March 22 and Ohio State March 29-30, according to his family.

?It?s definitely really cool to see all the cities around the country,? Kief said.
