Position: WR
Projected as: WR
Position Rank: 5
Class: 2005 Senior

(Long Beach, CA)

Biography:
Jackson caught 43 passes for 850 yards and 11 touchdowns as a junior. Named first team all-league, CIF, and state under-class. Was also a Long Beach Press-Telegram Dream Team selection. He bench presses 225 and has a 36-inch vertical jump. He also plays centerfield and batted .380 with 20 steals last season. Jackson carries a 2.6 (June 5 SAT).

Jackson: "I run good routes. I have great hands and good speed. I can make things happen after the catch. I want to work on my blocking and staying with my man on run plays. I also want to get stronger and break more tackles."

Audibles: "I've been working with Desean for years on doing all the little things right. I videotape every game he plays and following the game, we go over things like how he's running his routes, how he gets off the line, how he's coming in and out of his breaks, things like that. I know a lot of players aren't doing those things, they just rely on their physical ability but Desean really works hard and it's paying off for him." -DeSean Jackson's older brother Byron Jackson

In the latest Insiders update Jackson mentioned he received a tOSU offer last week. Jackson is currently not listing Ohio State as a favorite.

Jackson is listed as the #32 prospect on the Rivals.com Top 100 list and #58 on the Insiders.com National Top 100. Both services list him as a 4 star prospect.

Expect a Late January Decision
Neck and Neck
By Allen Wallace

National Recruiting Editor

"I'd say Cal (11/20 official trip) has just a slight lead over SC (childhood fave), says Calif WR DeSean Jackson (5-11, 170, 4.4). "They have a lot of WRs leaving at Cal and I could have a big impact there. I like their offense too..."

Calif WR DeSean Jackson, ranked by Scout.com as the nation's #7 WR, still says California leads USC, but now describes the schools as "neck and neck."
"I'd say Cal (11/20 official trip) has just a slight lead over SC (childhood fave). They have a lot of WRs leaving at Cal and I could have a big impact there," says Jackson. "I like their offense too…and coach (Jeff) Tedford. They have a good scheme and they get their WRs the ball. Tedford is a down-to-earth guy and a pretty good dude. He's recruiting me hard

"SC is the #1 team in the country. They are right here in my home-town and I think I could make a big impact there too, probably as a slot WR, where I would run more inside routes, using my speed. I might visit USC for the Notre Dame game (11/27) but I'm not sure if I want to use up a trip for SC. Coach (Ed) Orgeron is recruiting me."

Jackson says his other faves are Oklahoma, LSU (11/12 official trip) and Arizona State. "I don't know who else I'll officially visit except Cal, LSU and maybe USC. Ohio State is actually recruiting me the hardest.

"I won't decide until late Jan," concludes the youngster from Long Beach Poly.

SR (6-1, lost to Mission Viejo 41-14) stats: 35 rec/approx 550 yds/10 TDs (1 rushing)
