DeShaun Watson (QB Cleveland Browns)

Woulda been a smarter financial deal to negotiate hush money

That's exactly what the 22 women and their lawyer hoped Watson would think too. It has always been about the money.

Just sayin': Watson wants a jury trial, if all this (above) is true, his legal team will have a field day on their cross examinations.

Not sure I would agree it's always been about the money. IMO a number of them wanted legal justice but that probably is too far a reach vs civil is lower bar.
They came to the conclusion to punish him however they could and if money was the only way, so be it.
22 women didn't decide.. let's do this to get money...

If given the chance to hit him in the head with a baseball bat or take the money... he'd be a pinata

As far as a trial, that's funny... after trial 2, the defense strategy playbook will be laid out there to be fileted by #3 - #22. His only hope at not total devastation is to make all 22 combine into one case thereby trying to destroy the least common denominator/weakest plaintiff and hope the jury buys it for the rest.

Just sayin': That was decided by the lawyer (i.e. Tony Buzbee) when he met the 1st client all the others were cookie cutter lawsuits asking for the same compensation, etc.

What to Know About the Assault Lawsuits Against Deshaun Watson

Who is Tony Buzbee?
Tony Buzbee is a Houston plaintiffs lawyer who has worked on personal injury cases for years but is perhaps best known for his involvement in mass tort and class-action cases, including the litigation after Hurricane Ike and the BP oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico a decade ago. He doesn’t appear to have represented many women in cases involving sexual assault.

A former marine, Buzbee flaunts his outsize personality and wealth on social media. The first two words on the website for Buzbee’s law firm are “Just Win,” and he has a tattoo of a shark on his right forearm.

Although he has said he does not support the Texans, Buzbee, a Texas A&M graduate, in 2014 put up 10 billboards urging the team’s now-deceased owner, Bob McNair, to draft Johnny Manziel, an Aggies quarterback; McNair didn’t take his advice. Buzbee lives on the same tony Houston street as Cal McNair, but said in a news conference that he did not know McNair. Buzbee also unsuccessfully ran for mayor of Houston in 2019.

Lawyer: Two women with new allegations among 10 to file police complaints against Texans QB Deshaun Watson

Entire article: https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id...le-police-complaints-texans-qb-deshaun-watson

22 women file lawsuits against Watson and 10 women have filed police complaints. Only 8 of the 10 that filed a police complaint had filed a lawsuit.

Just sayin': It is reported now that the Texans might be willing to trade Watson, if the price is right.....

Deshaun Watson rumors: Texans willing to listen to trade calls for QB, looking for massive return, per report

It appears the Houston Texans have softened their hardline stance on whether they'll trade Deshaun Watson. Ever since Watson reportedly made it clear he wanted a trade, the Texans drew a line in the sand, refusing to acquiesce or take any calls from teams regarding a possible move. Times have changed massively, though, with Watson now facing 22 civil lawsuits that allege sexual misconduct in massage sessions, but the former first-round pick reportedly reported to training camp to avoid being fined $50,000 per day and reports say Houston is now willing to take trade calls on Watson -- per Tom Pelissero of NFL Network.

That said, it won't be cheap. Now while that's always been fairly well-known, considering Watson is a three-time Pro Bowl quarterback who's only 25 years old, the rumored asking price is astronomical. In exchange for Watson, it would likely take a minimum of three first-round picks and more, per Pelissero, while Chris Mortensen of ESPN adds the asking price is as high as a combination of five high draft picks and starting caliber players (plural).

Those prices are steep even if Watson wasn't the defendant in 22 civil lawsuits, but the fact he is and that the NFL is currently investigating to determine if he'll be suspended and/or placed on the commissioner's Exempt List, they're that much more eye-popping.

Realistically speaking, it looks as if the Texans are still not looking to trade Watson at all -- considering what they're asking for a player facing legal questions -- but instead choosing to give the appearance they are while knowing it's exceedingly unlikely any team will meet their demands.

Watson never should have signed an extension with Houston last September if he disliked the franchise at all, let alone enough to demand a trade. He is just starting the big money part of his contract with this season. I don't think any team should seriously try and trade for him now. Until there is some clarity about when he will be able to play, I don't see any logic in giving up a lot of assets to acquire him.

I don't think any team will realistically look to trade for him with what the Texans are currently seeking. No way as a GM to even give up 3 high draft picks and 1-2 starters for a player IDK when he will even get to suit up.

Uh, well; maybe or maybe not......

Rumor: Deshaun Watson Trade Talks Heating Up With Eagles
Could this deal actually get done?

While rumors have swirled for months that a trade was imminent, the chatter about an imminent Watson trade increased significantly yesterday thanks to a report by Chris Trapasso:

Anyone who would be crazy enough to give the Texans anywhere close to what they want for him which is rumored to be 3 1sts with this hanging over their head deserves to have their roster burnt to the ground

It doesn't seem like there's still much interest

Also would be stupid. Don't draft fields then give up a bunch of Draft pics to give up on Tua in year 2? That's what bad teams do...
Drafting Fields would have been a bigger head scratcher considering he's never played an NFL down. Watson is a bad boy and unfortunately also a Bad boy. I'm not sold on Tua and the pieces are there for a great year. Just depends what they have to give up and whether Watson gets hammered by legal or not
