Dick Vitale (official thread)

Dickie V is infinitely worse than Herbie. They both have characters to play, but Vitale's is way more annoying. They both say stupid catch phrases, but Vitale's are way more stupid. The cherry on top is the volume of Vitale's stupidity. At least when Herbie is saying the most brainless things you've ever heard, it's at inside voice levels.

Congrats, Vitale. You've gotten me to defend Herbie. That's how terrible you are.

Vitale doing the Louisville-FSU game yesterday, could not resist an opportunity to paint Rick Pitino as an innocent victim who deserves a second chance. Said all Pitino would do with another chance is "win, win and win," and the only mistake Pitino made was two assistants who broke NCAA rules. Actually Dick, hiring two rogue assistants is not one mistake, it is two mistakes, and it is an additional mistake to not be more careful with your assistants when you were already on probation. Or more likely, none of this was a mistake and Pitino wanted to break the rules all along in order to "win, win and win."

Vitale is selling a book with the proceeds going to the V foundation. His work raising money for cancer research is quite admirable. But there he offered an odd extra incentive. He said during the UK-LSU game Tuesday that he is willing to add a personalized signature to every book sold if you order through his website and will write anything you want. How about "Sorry Lawrence Funderburke, turns out I am the cheap shot MFer"?
