Alright…..its time to get down to it….and its time for my first top 20 rankings….note…this is subject to change….and I am old-school….so it is top 20….not top 25…also…this is where I think they will end the year….

20. Minnesota: Great backs, great o-line. No Ohio State and no Purdue in league play.
19. Penn State: Talent galor…bad system? Bad coaching?
18. Tennessee: Talent again…but the fridge2 is too much like Mack Brown….
17. NCState: This is the year this team starts to become balanced…
16. S.Carolina: This all depends on health and a weaker SEC….
15. Florida: If not for the schedule…they could be top 10…
14. Missouri: Great schedule in a media-hyped conference…
13. Virginia: 16 returing starters. Al Groh. Great –line. Great Lb’s….
12. Utah: The Utes are slated to be the 04 BCS spoilers…
11. Ohio State: Could be top 5…but 14 drafted players from last years squad..???
10. Miami: Winner of the FSU-UM game gets 8…loser …10…
09. Georgia: Despite the loss of Lumpkin…this is top 10 all the way…
08. Fla. State: Winner of FSU-UM game gets 8…loser….10….
07. California: Improving team playing in the Pac10…that helps…
06. Michigan: Great talent…great schedule…one loss ruins their title…
05. LSU: The tigers have the X on them…play at UGA,UF and AU…that’s too much..
04. Texas: There is only one real game on their schedule…and they will lose it by 20…
03. Oklahoma: Great team…tough schedule..Oregon,TT,Texas,KSt,OSU, TAM and Neb in a 9 week stretch??? They will drop one…but not to Texas…
02. West Virginia: Maryland at home on 9/18 is the key to the season.
01. USC: In any other conference but the BigEast or Pac10 I would say no way….

So there you have it….where I think the final rankings will be….Let the games and debate begin….
 
Dagnabbit, DiHard... You're supposed to rank us 13th. Preseason #13 is the magic spot for an OSU team these days. I can understand Cal ranked above us, rumblings are that Tedford is doing some great things out there. I can even understand WVa, because of their easy schedule... but God help them if they end up in the Orange Bowl, 'cause they'll get their asses handed to them against a solid team.

NYbuckeye00, you're a joke. I mean, what's the point of hammering someone because they have an opinion different than yours? Get a clue. I happen to disagree with many of DiHard's picks but wouldn't profess to know he's wrong before the season ever starts.

wvu could run the table and not get in the orange bowl with the schedule they play....they are senior and junior loaded...any more than one regular season loss for them would be ridiculous.........cals schedule isnt much better.....

I don't think WVU is the 2nd best team in the country at this point in time. Are they good enough to run the table-yes they are. Are they better than Florida, Oklahoma, Georgia, Texas, OSU, LSU or Michigan-no, not at this time. Good pick on Cal though......

Dihard - WVU at 2? They may go undefeated in the weak Big East, but 2?? I can't back you up on that one.

Re: LSU and respect - New QB (Although Randall has Exp.) and new WR's (except Green) spells trouble. USC has similar problems with Colbert and Williams gone, but the Pac isn't the SEC.

three of the last four national champs have lost five games the previous season....Oklahoma, Ohio State and LSU...

missouri, wvu, ....etc....deserve consideration b/c they are senior led and have great schedules....

Interesting tidbit... I know that voters don't necessarily agree, but when your hanging your hat on "soft schedule" I wonder how you'll perform if you make the big game.. (Just for clarification, I'm not suggesting that's your intent, Di)

i see the mountaineers at 2, has anyone ciritcizing him seen there schedule? the big test for them is Maryland, the rest are cupcakes. And really this is not that ballsy alot of experts have them in there top 5. On cal they have an easy schedule minus usc. which is earrly. Polls are not who is best in all reality look at the 84 team we had, nobody could have beat them at the end of the year but we dropped two early and thats it.
