DL Chris Carter, Jr. (Official Thread)

Congrats to the kid. He obviously has talent for a big man, and I'd be interested to see what a college S & C program, as well as college coaching could mold him into. That being said, after only taking one Olinemen in last yrs class, I think it's important to get our money's worth this class and if I were staff I'd lean towards taking lighter and more athletic kids (ie. Farris).

However, they must see something in Carter that has them believing he could make a good guard at Ohio State, if he improves his footwork, and loses some of the bad weight.

Dude looks like he's 35 already! I love seeing big monsters like him getting offered for the OL-if his feet were a problem, he wouldn't have been offered this early. He's the first non-Glenville Senate League kid to get an offer in years.

Scout.com: Nine Linemen To Watch For The Buckeyes ($$$)

After re-reading the quotes from BK's article and now reading this, it is obvious this was one of those, "if you do this, take care of this and do that, then we will offer" situations...which in no way should be misinterpreted as an actual official offer...and really isn't even a verbal offer at this point. And frankly, as surprised as I was by this offer, I am not really surprised. At least the kid has a roadmap of what he needs to do...both on and off the field.

hmmm......

He's gotta work on his feet/quickness, and technique in my opinion.

He's a monster who plays really hard, but he obviously has some things need work if he wants to get an offer.

If he's 6'4", 340, then we need to see if the old white guy in the background has any eligibility left...

Seriously, he doesn't look anywhere near those measureables in those photos.

I know that guy in the background, and he is a big dude, but but I am not sure if Carter is 6'4'' based on those pictures...

Scout $ - Carter Gaining Interest
Topher Smith of SuperPrep.com, Feb 21, 2010

Sees himself as an OG with the ability to play some OT... Coach Taver Johnson let him know last week that an OSU offer was on the way... It will be Carters first offer... He calls it an honor & overwhelming to have the chance to fulfill the dream of going to OSU... Other schools that have him interested include Miami-FL, Toledo, _ichigan, Notre Dame, & Morehouse...

Indications are that this is a conditional offer though I wouldn't expect Carter to volunteer that info...
