Redskins re-sign DE Darrion Scott

The Washington Redskins on Monday announced the re-signing of backup defensive end Darrion Scott.

Scott, a five-year veteran who appeared in seven games for Washington last season ? recording four tackles ? would have become an unrestricted free agent on March 13th.

Terms of the the contracts were not released. Scott last season played on a $685,000 salary.

Projected starters: DE Adam Carriker, NT Barry Cofield, DE Stephen Bowen

Key reserves: DE Jarvis Jenkins, DE Kedric Golston, NT Chris Neild, DE Darrion Scott

Vet in trouble: Scott. It?s hard to imagine Golston being in much trouble as long as his knee holds up and, besides, Scott is always in trouble of not making the roster.

Redskins Release DE Darrion Scott

The Washington Redskins released defensive end Darrion Scott on Friday as they try to trim their roster down to 53. The release of Scott brings the total number of defensive linemen on the Redskins' roster to six, according to John Keim of the Washington Examiner.

Scott, a former Ohio State Buckeye, has been in and out of the league since 2004. He played seven games for Washington in 2011 and recorded seven tackles. His best seasons came in 2005 and 2006, when he started 28 games for the Minnesota Vikings and amassed 9.5 sacks.
