DL Michael Bennett (National Champion)

Wow, I love Bennett at DT. When you have a guy with a first step like Bennett, you put him at DT imo. Undersized or not, that is impressive penetration. I love how low he stays coming out of his stance as well.

Ohio State wants Centerville lineman
Michael Bennett ?excited? about offer from Buckeyes, says Elks coach Ron Ullery.
By Kyle Nagel, Staff Writer
Tuesday, February 2, 2010

CENTERVILLE ? After leaving the Miami Valley without an Ohio State football recruit this year for the first time since 1998, the Buckeyes are increasing their desire for the area Class of 2011.

Michael Bennett, a 6-foot-3, 275-pound Centerville High School junior offensive lineman, received a scholarship offer from OSU over the weekend. He is the second area player ? after Wayne quarterback Braxton Miller ? to whom the Buckeyes have extended a scholarship offer.

Bennett was a first-team All-Greater Western Ohio Conference performer last season and already has offers from Alabama-Birmingham, Ball State, Duke, Cincinnati, North Carolina State, Indiana, Wake Forest and Northwestern, said Centerville coach Ron Ullery.

?I think it?ll keep on growing,? Ullery said. ?He?s that impressive on film.?

Ullery said the colleges are recruiting Bennett as either an offensive or defensive lineman, because his athleticism is impressive in both spots.

?His explosion off the ball is pretty special,? Ullery said. ?He?s very level-headed, very humble, a great kid. And he?s very excited about an Ohio State offer.?

Distance won't be a factor in his decision while things like the quality of the education & the program will weigh heavily... No mention of Ohio State so this may have been written but not published prior to Sunday...

Scout $ - Bennett Lands Huge Offer
By Topher Smith
Posted Feb 5, 2010

Bennett feels his explosive first step
& aggressiveness are his best traits... His main focus for now will be indoor track & getting to know the coaches recruiting him... He doesn't call them his leaders but he does single out OSU & Northwestern as 2 schools he's really interested in...

2011 - wheres the beef?

The first two players that come to mind in the state of Ohio are Donovan Clark from Cincinnati Finneytown and Michael Bennett from Centerville. Bennett has received his offer already from the Buckeyes. The question about both is about size. Neither are ideal sized offensive linemen but when I see bigs with the explosiveness and athleticism of Clark and Bennett, I give them a look on defense first anyway. I am happy to see the Buckeyes offered Bennett as a defensive tackle. You can always move down a DT to offense. I would like to see an offer to Clark. I see the same kind of player. Both are so explosive and disruptive. Clark has a similar early offer list with the exception of the Buckeye offer. He was an invitee to bowl practices and is definitely on the Buckeyes radar. He is in no hurry so time is not a problem.

Scout $ - Bennett Looking Off The Field
By Dave Berk
Posted Feb 19, 2010

Currently carries a 3.3 GPA & takes his academics very seriously since he's considering pre-med... He loves football but sees it as a way to pay for his education & have success in life... He was honored by the OSU offer but is still wide open... Track will keep him from taking very many visits but he will likely get to ND during the Spring...
