Nation’s No. 3 DT Tyler Friday to Decide This Week, OSU the Favorite
Tyler Friday is one of the nation’s best defensive linemen, and he is just one of two 2018 defensive linemen in the Top 100 who remain committed. According to 247Sports.com, however, he won’t remain uncommitted for too much longer.
Friday (6-3 263) is the No. 3 defensive tackle in the nation per the 247Sports Composite and the No. 4 strongside defensive end in the nation per Rivals, and is expected to be committing somewhere this week. The school that is trending in his direction the most right now is Ohio State.
From Don Bosco Prep in Ramsey, New Jersey, Friday had been seen as a Michigan lean for a while, but the Buckeyes are now the clear favorites according to those who guess on such things.

The Buckeyes aren’t necessarily in the market for another defensive tackle, having already signed No. 1 DT Taron Vincent, No. 9 DT Tommy Togiai, and No. 1 JUCO DT Antwuan Jackson. There are really two thoughts here, however. The first is that you can never have enough defensive tackles; and the second is that Friday is also capable of playing defensive end.
Friday is big enough and strong enough to play on the inside in high school, but if that is where his future lies in college, he is obviously going to have to get bigger. Right now, he is a bit of a ‘tweener and could end up anywhere on the defensive line. For Ohio State, many would point to defensive end being his future given the need at that position, but Friday is also the type of defensive lineman who ends up playing the three-technique defensive tackle for Larry Johnson.

Hearing there’s a lot of interest around the NFL in #OhioState DC Greg Schiano for some defensive coordinator jobs. He is very well-regarded by a lot of folks up there.
