Does anyone else get crap like this from theInsiders?

StateFans has learned that Shannon (MS) Shooting Guard Courtney Fells has verbally committed to NC State. Fells informed StateFans columnist Jeff Goodman of the news late Sunday night.

Courtney is the first commitment for NC State's 2005 basketball class and was considered the Wolfpack's #1 priority. He chose NC State over Georgia Tech, Maryland, LSU, Alabama, Miss. State, and Mississippi.

I get it from StateFans and the Michigan site. Despite having opted out of *all* mail from theInsiders as a whole ages ago. I had a long drawn out battle with the Iowa site, finally got them to stop. But StateFans just won't give up.

Is this just an extra slap I got thanks to my limp buddies on the BN end of that family of sites to go along with my banning? Or do you who, like me, posted on other sites over there now and again get hit with the same stuff?

It's astonishing to me that even after opting out of theInsiders mail (you do so in your account settings), and even after multiple requests for the mails to end, it all goes ignored.

I got that one also...up until then I only got stuff from Iowa, like this:

It's been a wild two days for Iowa football fans, as the Hawkeyes have
added three new commitments to the fold with a fourth likely on the
way. IL QB Jake Christensen committed to Iowa on Tuesday, and St.
Louis area OL Kyle Calloway will be committing to Iowa later this week
after receiving his official scholarship offer in the mail. More
details and react...

It was a battle, but I got Iowa to stop. They blew me off for a long time, then I got a little more assertive. The last email I sent them had a tiny .gif loaded inline so that I could track who loaded it, when, and from what computer. I also pointed out that I had done so. Then I pasted a couple key paragraphs from the "Can Spam" law. That finally did it.

StateFans are being less agreeable. They're just ignoring me. But I just sent them the inline gif / quoted "Can Spam" email tonight as my 3rd attempt over the last few months.

These are the interesting parts that I use;

(4) PROHIBITION OF TRANSMISSION OF COMMERCIAL ELECTRONIC MAIL AFTER OBJECTION-

(A) IN GENERAL- If a recipient makes a request using a mechanism provided pursuant to paragraph (3) not to receive some or any commercial electronic mail messages from such sender, then it is unlawful--

(i) for the sender to initiate the transmission to the recipient, more than 10 business days after the receipt of such request, of a commercial electronic mail message that falls within the scope of the request;

(ii) for any person acting on behalf of the sender to initiate the transmission to the recipient, more than 10 business days after the receipt of such request, of a commercial electronic mail message with actual knowledge, or knowledge fairly implied on the basis of objective circumstances, that such message falls within the scope of the request;

(iii) for any person acting on behalf of the sender to assist in initiating the transmission to the recipient, through the provision or selection of addresses to which the message will be sent, of a commercial electronic mail message with actual knowledge, or knowledge fairly implied on the basis of objective circumstances, that such message would violate clause (i) or (ii); or

(iv) for the sender, or any other person who knows that the recipient has made such a request, to sell, lease, exchange, or otherwise transfer or release the electronic mail address of the recipient (including through any transaction or other transfer involving mailing lists bearing the electronic mail address of the recipient) for any purpose other than compliance with this Act or other provision of law.

and

(5) INCLUSION OF IDENTIFIER, OPT-OUT, AND PHYSICAL ADDRESS IN COMMERCIAL ELECTRONIC MAIL- (A) It is unlawful for any person to initiate the transmission of any commercial electronic mail message to a protected computer unless the message provides--

(i) clear and conspicuous identification that the message is an advertisement or solicitation;

(ii) clear and conspicuous notice of the opportunity under paragraph (3) to decline to receive further commercial electronic mail messages from the sender; and

(iii) a valid physical postal address of the sender.

I only get mail from Iowa and want it stopped also, but have been too lazy to e-mail them. I also turned off any mail preferences I could find and their email contains no unsubscrib option.

Very annoying.

I'm about ready to strangle those dorks. I had to register for their site last year when they were trashing us before our game with them, and I"ve been getting crap from them ever since.

I may copy your spam law stuff and see if I can get them to stop sending me stuff as well.

I mean really- who, outside of the children of the corn, gives a shit about Iowa?

Yahoo does a pretty good job of filtering spam and putting it in a separate mailbox. A few things get thru, but 99% of the stuff is collected in a spam file and can be deleted. Interestingly, the password info from here gets routed to the spam folder, somehow........

I think the guys who violate the new spam law should have a choice
5-10 years in a minimum security club fed, or 1 year being the Crips,Bloods, or Aryans Nations bitch in a super-max!!!!!!!

Hmmmm.. not sure where you are going with that, but I suppose it would cut their incentive for trying to sell "V1agra" or "natural male enhancements"!
