Even in the most skewed bar chart ever created the words "redneck, in-bred and white-trash" are no where near as insulting as "nigger". That is another of your cop-out excuses for being a racist and trying to avert attention towards other members in an effort to downplay the little inside look at your psyche you provided us accidentally. I don't recall slave ships setting sail from the far off beaches of Appalachia loaded to the gills with white people headed to market to become some black persons new piece of farm machinery. Redneck is an affectionate term used to describe a good ol' boy, nothing more. Just be honest. The stigma of being a racist is only as bad as you let it be. There are, however, support groups you can join to help you with these feelings if you truly want to change. Try the NAACP, I hear they are now taking wise-ass non-blacks to work in their P.R. department. Sweet jesus, a 3 page thread on the use of the n word.... Apparently little known fact - Nigger was first used as a black on black term describing a man who had no self respect or discipline. Common post slavery, the term was meant to be a "kick in the ass" to the individual so referred to get his shit in order and make the newly freed slaves, as a group, appear stronger.... that is, get credibility in an all white world (of the time)
Am I the only one that saw Mili clearly state, "If there is anyone who deserves to be called...." It's not as if Mili is just running around half cocked pushing some skin-head agenda. He used the word specifically, and for the specific perpose of stating a very strong opinion about a guy. There is no shame in using language to state your point. Indeed, that's why we have words at all. Mili could easily have said "Don King is a poopy face" But, clearly Mili meant to say something very strong about King... something specific. He didn't mince his words, and I don't fault him
Of course the word is offensive. Of course it implies negativity. It's fucking supposed to. And that is how Mili feels about King. Hats off to Mili for saying so.
I once heard a 85 year old white woman say, "Now, there's blacks and then there's niggers. These was niggers." It's true, you know. There are bad apples in any group. There are white people who deserve to be verbally described in insulting terms. There are arabs who deserve the same. There are Chinese.... there are Mexicans... I could go on.... There are also an equal or great amount of Blacks, Whites, Chinese, Mexicans etc. who DO NOT deserve to be called slurs. I don't think Mili was saying every black person is a nigger. He said Don King is. So what? That's Mili's position. Tell Mili why you think he's wrong - about King himself, not use of the term - Just spare me the ivory tower bullshit.

It WOULD be that big a deal IF mili, or anyone, used that word to describe ANY black many, regardless. That is to say, calling ... I don't know... Tim Spencer the N word cause of his skin color, and not his deeds, THEN it's absolutely uncalled for. Otehrwise, its just another word in the English language that has meaning.

My oldest was living with a guy who was half black half Hispanic, so had they had kids, the kids would've been 1/4 of each of the four major ethnic groups, and I had no problem at all with that. I even speak Japanese...in fact, I speak it so well that I received proficiency pay for it while in the service. You also say that according to your "bar chart", the terms redneck, white trash, and in-bred aren't nearly as insulting as nigger, and that redneck "is an affectionate term used to describe a good ol' boy, nothing more". Tell you what, have one of your black friends waltz into a country bar and yell out "Yeee haw! Ya'll is rednecks!" and see what his "reception" is. I would bet the house that it would be just as hostile as if I went into a black establishment and yelled out, "Yo, yo, yo! Wazzup, niggers?" And spare me the history lesson on slavery. Did you know that over 3/4 of the slaves went to the Caribbean and not the US, and that many, if not most, of black slaves were sold to whites by blacks in Africa? And slavery still exists in war-torn regions of Africa today...and you won't find a single white person around. By the way, there were white "indentured servants" in early America in the New England area...just not to nearly the degree as there were black servants.
Ya'll excuse me now...I have to get my white sheets out of the dryer. Oh, that's right, I don't dry them in the dryer, I hang dry them.
