Donald Sterling and his comments

Identity missing....
  • Why not?

I don't think there is much debate about what he said as it was in very bad taste - I think we all agree on that point here.

However, what does everyone feel the NBA should do about it if/when their investigation finds he did indeed say it.

Not sure if they CAN do anything about it. Have no idea what, if anything, is in their franchise ownership agreements about it. If there is something akin to a conduct clause for owners, they should act pursuant to that. The fans could, of course force him to sell be simply refusing to go to games . . .

Logistically, how could the NBA force him to sell his team? I'm sure that he would demand a fair-market value, and people that can pay that price don't grow on trees. Would the NBA think about buying it from him and running the thing under interim management until a buyer comes out from the woodwork?

Either way, the dude is creep and I would hate to be in that locker room right now.

I really believe his whole animus was directed more toward (ex-Laker) Magic Johnson rather than African-Americans in general. As I understand it, the whore girl he's dating is 1/2 African American anyhow. And she's like 55 years younger than he is.

    Sterling is a jerk, but I don't think he's a racist jerk.

I mean, I'm not one to start throwing around the racism mantra since it is FAR to overused, but c'mon. Dude is absolutely a racist bigot.

People that follow the NBA closely have known for years about Sterling and his blatant racism. He cuts checks to people to make them forget about it and move on. He really is a First Class POS and a sore spot for the League. But not sure they can do much about it except wait for him to, mercifully, die of old age.

That's pretty much the whole NAACP. If you ever go to one of their functions you will see that it's full of white racists, judges, cops, politicians, businessmen...etc The way it works is a black person is abused by a a business or the system, black goes to NAACP for help, NAACP approaches said violator, tells them if you become a lifetime member/contributor to the NAACP this problem will go away, said violator becomes member/contributor, NAACP profits, victim gets fucked in the ass. They're all fucking racists or race profiteers.

Will depend on if there are any provisions in the ownership agreement of the team. Stirling owns it, but it is still the league's team. Didn't the league take over a team not that long ago for a period? I imagine there are conditions, but I am not sure what those are or if this gets anywhere near them.

Bottom line is Stirling has always been a horrible owner, the Clippers were the worst franchise in pro sports for a long period of time. I guess Elgin Baylor wasn't crazy after all.

So, did big daddy warbucks lose his mixed race girlfriend over this or is she sticking by his side?

Sterling's wife describes alleged mistress as gold digger in lawsuit

Donald Sterling’s wife of more than 50 years describes his alleged mistress as a gold digger who seduces older, wealthy men and persuades them to shower her with gifts, according to a lawsuit filed in Los Angeles County Superior Court on March 7.

The Clippers team owner and a woman identified as V. Stiviano allegedly began an affair after meeting at the 2010 Super Bowl game and were still in the relationship as of the filing date, according to the lawsuit filed by Rochelle H. Sterling, who is described in the suit as "a married woman seeking to protect and recover community property in her individual capacity."

Rochelle Sterling alleges that her husband used community property to buy Stiviano a 2012 Ferrari, two Bentleys and a 2013 Range Rover, worth a total of more than $500,0000.

Sterling also allegedly gave Stiviano $1.8 million to buy a duplex on West 4th Street near the Beverly Center last December, according to the suit, which claims that Sterling additionally provided her with $240,000 for upkeep and living expenses.
