Drew Stanton Update on Fox Sports Detroit

MICHIGAN DIDN'T SCORE MUCH BECAUSE MSU HAD A HELL OF ALOT OF TOP. MSU was doing whatever it wanted to the Michigan defense. They limited the Michigan offensive possesions by controlling the clock. Thats the reason they kept Meshitagain to 17. So technically Stantons offense was a good defense.

Fair enough.

But my original point is that MSU is still a 3rd tier team even though they are playing better than 2 years ago.

If their defense can't hold onto the win against their cheif rival after what Stanton did for them in the first half - then all of their fortunes will rise and fall with him.

MSU has not moved up my list of 'teams to watch out for' in the Big Ten. They are still right there with Minny, NW, PSU - a team with a couple of good players that can surprise you if you take them too lightly.

I see the point of your argument, and there is no comparison between MSU and PU, but not having a defense does not make them a tier 3 team.

My personal tiers go: OSU/UM, Wisc/PU/MSU/Iowa, NU, IU, Ill, PSU*

If drew stanton stayed healthy, they would have beaten UM hands down. And I doubt the wisconsin defense could have shut down Stanton when the play was run away from their star DE. Think about this: had Stanton stayed healthy they would have played Wisky really close to determine who won the Big Ten. Plus, Purdue will finish behind MSU this year most likely, and MSU will be very good next year and Purdue will be awful. I think most would consider Purdue a tier 2 team.
