DT Adolphus "Diesel" Washington (Official Thread)

Damn, I had so much high hopes for Rose, Washington is what Rose should have been

I first saw Rose play when he was a junior in high school. He had a fatal flaw of standing up with his first move and looking around instead of firing out and staying low. He could get away with it in high school, not in the Big Ten.

Taco does the same thing:biggrin:

I know, but his physical tools and genetics were second to none

Washington played both inside and outside on the Buckeyes? defensive line last season, finishing the year with nine total tackles and three sacks.

Vrabel said Washington is best suited to play outside at defensive end.

?He probably weighs 285 pounds or whatever he weighs, which he could play inside, but his God-given natural skills are really well suited outside,? Vrabel said of Washington. ?He?s got great length, he?s a great basketball player so he is a great athlete. He?s everything that you could ask for ? he?s a great kid.?

Got to say, my concerns over our D Line this year are starting to ease. We could be in for a huge surprise. Diesel looks primed to blow up this year. Mercy this is going to be a long, long off season. The young talent on both sides of the ball is simply staggering.

Call me crazy, but I think this years DL is going to be BETTER than last years. The Spence and Washington duo are going to dominate

It all Is in the hands of how good our insides play.I think Bennett at 3 tech could be stealing in pass rush situations

Hale vs. Goebel: Push. Similar styles of play and backgrounds. I think Hale has slightly more raw talent but Goebel had a lot of games under his belt.

Bennett vs. Hankins: Likely downgrade. I love Bennett's potential but his health is always a concern and I don't think his superior quickness makes up for Big Hanks ability to control the LOS.

Spence vs. Williams: Leaning towards upgrade after hearing the initial spring practice reports but Nate had a really underrated year. He was relentless and physical. Not sure if Spence will quite replicate that toughness

Washington vs. Simon: Downgrade. Simon's motor, leadership, experience, and work ethic just can't be replaced. Not to mention he was also just a damn good football player. 9 sacks in 11 games while battling through chronic injuries. Who knows how many sacks and TFL's he would've had if he was healthy? Washington clearly has some talent but he's not coming close to bringing what Simon did to the table

Overall: Downgrade. I'm expecting a good year with signs of an even better one in '14
