DT Dexter Larimore (official thread)

BN recruiting board

according to Chris Pool, Dexter's father Jeff said that tOSU offered Dexter last night. a written offer is in the mail...
after watching his videos yesterday, i am very excited. i guess there is some question over what position the offer is for, whether it is for OG, C, or DT. being the stud wrestler that he is, i would love to see him at DT.

hopefully this guy is a big-10 caliber tackle, and we're not just offering because of the lack of talent there this year...

the staff wouldn't offer if he wasn't B10 caliber...the question is not the lack of talent, because Ohio is loaded with OL talent this year. The question is how much of that talent are we going to be able to land. Smith is OSU-bound, Boren is headed up North, and Aaron Brown is still sorting things out. I still really believe that the next in-state offer is headed towards Bill Nagy, although if this offer is true, that makes me a little more skeptical...

I hope Dexter is being offered as a DT...great news either way though!

H.S. Football: Larimore gets offer from Ohio State<!--ENDHEADLINE--> [FONT=Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]

Dexter Larimore doesn’t want to sound full of himself. Really, he doesn’t.
But he wasn’t exactly shocked, or even mildly surprised, that Ohio State coach Jim Tressel called him up at home Monday night and offered him a full scholarship to play defensive tackle for the Buckeyes.
After all, the Merrillville senior is good. And he worked darn hard to be that good.
“It’s a little hard to fathom,” Larimore said. “But, and I don’t know how to say this without sounding cocky, if you put in the amount of time and work that I put in, it just proves that it was worth it. With my hard work, I kind of earned it.”
Ohio State shoots right to the top of Larimore’s list, which already includes offers from Illinois, Indiana, Ball State and Western Michigan.
Just to complicate matters, the 6-3, 275-pounder also has scholarship offers to wrestle at Iowa State, Missouri, Michigan State and Indiana.
“He’s got some tough decisions to make,” Merrillville football coach Jeff Yelton said. “There’s a lot on his plate right now.”
Larimore’s in no rush to make a decision on where — and what — to play, but Ohio State certainly caught his attention.
“It’s Ohio State, I mean, jeez, they were the national champions a couple years ago (2002),” he said. “It’s amazing knowing I could go to a program like that.”
The Buckeyes have been all over Larimore ever since he manhandled offensive linemen throughout a camp in Columbus, Ohio, in June. He received a call from the Buckeyes on Sept. 1 — the first day such calls are allowed — and got something in the mail from them every day since.
“They recruited me pretty hard,” he said.
Larimore said he’s also been recruited by Michigan State, Purdue and Michigan, and scholarship offers likely won’t be too far off.
But the winningest program in Division I history slipped in Larimore’s eyes last Saturday, when he attended the Michigan-Notre Dame game in Ann Arbor, Mich.
In fact, Michigan might have lost more than the game that day.
“It’s Michigan-Notre Dame, and I was surprised that the Big House wasn’t as loud as I thought,” Larimore said. “You’ve got 110,000 people there, and it’s loud, but it’s not that loud. It changes my perspective a little. É I was watching the Ohio State game (against Texas later in the evening) and, whew, that place was getting loud. And their stadium is awesome.”
The emergence of Ohio State all but knocked out Ball State as a contender, even though Larimore’s older brother, Riley, will be a senior defensive end there next year.
“I don’t think Ball State’s a really good fit for me,” he said. “Riley loves it down there, and he liked the smaller campus. I kind of liked the bigger campuses.”
As the offers keep pouring in, Larimore insists he won’t lose his focus, either in the classroom or on the field. “It doesn’t really bother me,” he said. “Every once in a while, I start thinking about it in class or something, but it doesn’t make me lose focus or anything. During football season, I’m there to play football. I’m not going to play for myself or scholarships or anything.”

i would be willing to bet that this offer is for a DT. especially with Palmer, Browning, and Nagy all in-state for the O-Line.
according to madville yesterday, Browning looks to be next in line for the O-Line offer.

I can't imagine Browning gets an offer before Nagy.

Glad to see Larrimore got his offer...and even more glad to see it was as a DT.

Chris Pool confirms the offer for the #6 prospect in Indiana.

Dexter is DT all the way IMHO. At 6'3, 285 and with his wrestling background, he will undoubtedly draw Tim Anderson comparisons. Anderson played at tOSU at 6'4 289 although the Buffalo Bills roster has him at 6'3 304 right now.

Just like Anderson, Dexter is noted for his intensity and motor.
