DT Dre'Mont Jones (Seattle Seahawks)

Ohio State-Rutgers | Leg gash keeps Dre’Mont Jones off field

Ohio State defensive tackle Dre’Mont Jones suffered a cut on a leg in the locker room last week, something coach Urban Meyer said was “awful” at first, and he did not make the trip for a 56-0 win over Rutgers on Saturday night.

“Freak injury, awful,” Meyer said. “I can’t remember the day it was, but we have a good practice, hot day, we’re in there watching film and I get a text message: ‘Dre’Mont cut his leg on a locker.’

“And I go in there and it’s ridiculous,” Meyer said, holding up his hands to signify a footlong slash. “So he’ll probably be out this week, too (against Maryland). We’ll know more when we get back. He’s going to be fine. But it was bad, almost could be a nerve injury, but it’s not.”

OHIO STATE PLANS $7.8 MILLION WOODY HAYES ATHLETIC CENTER RENOVATION, PER REPORT

Donors splurged another $2.5 million in 2014 to renovate the locker rooms (and add the vaunted water wall).

There could have been a sharp edge on a locker door; but still a deep "12 inch gash". I'm betting there is more to it than just scraping a sharp edge or corner of a locker, i.e. locker room fight, and/or serious hi-jinks, etc.

I was wondering if it had anything to do with the Erick Smith suspension probably not but that's where my mind went

DRE'MONT JONES SEEN WEARING LEG BRACE AFTER PRACTICE

Ohio State star defensive tackle Dre'Mont Jones was a surprise scratch last week in the Buckeyes' rout of Rutgers.

According to the university, Jones scraped his leg midweek on a locker, an injury requiring stitches that would sideline him for one, maybe two weeks.

After practice Tuesday, Colin Hass-Hill of The Lantern spotted Jones wearing a bulky knee brace.

I'm no doctor, but I have had stitches, and they didn't require anything that complicated.

I had stitches around my knee when I was younger and had to wear a leg brace so I wouldn't bend my knee and bust the stitches open....

now where is the fun in such a straightforward and simple explanation?

The OSU fan base and media must have their windmills to tilt at

I read on the super secret board that he was injured escaping an FBI raid of a payout party hosted by the Columbus triumvirate. The Wolf family, owning the media in C'bus and being a member of the triumvirate, have kept it quiet....so far.

I heard he's been training with Payton Hillis. Football is a just covert operative pipeline

Fully expect this guy to declare.

But if he comes back................look out. I don’t see the D Line to drop off much. The depth won’t be the same but there will be some serious talent to work with. I keep thinking of Little Bears off hand comment “the D Line next year is set.” Does he know something?

Bosa, Jones, Landers, Young
Cooper, Garrett, Cornell, Tyreke Smith?

Other DTs who will be available in ‘18 and look primed for minutes: Vincent, Jackson, Barrow if healthy, Cage, Togiai.

The thing is, if Jones does return he can showcase versatility with his play at DE and allow some depth at DT to fill in. If he leads in snap counts and one of the young DTs makes a big push then it’s a legit 8 deep.

*and this is why Tyreke looks like a lock...he has to know LJsr loves to rotate

Assuming Jones declares then it’s even more minutes for Tyreke Smith, Jackson, Vincent, etc.
