DT Joel Hale (Official Thread)

Why offer? I'm so glad we don't play this game.

Wasn't a committable offer that they gave him, but I agree it's a "game" with all their type of offers that makes it awfully confusing, the SEC and specifically UF is pretty notorious for those now.

Georgia Tech appears to be the school to be worried about.

When did Hale even get a UF offer? In his interview a few days ago, he said he visited UF and was in constant contact, but they hadn't offered him yet.

Did something change in the last couple days? As for us never turning a kid down who had an offer, that's selective memory. We've turned down kids before. Pretty sure Vlad Emilien wanted to commit on a few occasions to us, but we did not allow him because he took to long.

it only happens at osu due to academic issues.

Refusing a recruit because we filled the position, the entire class is full, or academic concerns is one thing. However, offering a guy then saying we aren't going to accept your commit if you do it now because we might get this other guy but if you wait until the end so we can see how our class looks we might accept it then is totally different.

Rivals $

From BWI...called PSU and Coach Vanderlinden offered over the phone...has seen white out games on TV and likes PSU's tradition...talks about meeting Coach Heacock at OSU and Coach Mack and Coach Addazio at Florida.

The PSU offer concerns me quite a bit...

Scout$--Hale Gets an Offer from the Gators

Joel is very excited about the Florida offer and says while he is still open, Florida is definitely near the top.

That Florida offer is scary, they seem to pluck out whatever top talent they want from around the nation. We would offer some great early PT for him in our rotation, I think their depth chart is pretty stocked.

One other defensive tackle the staff is recruiting is Greenwood (Ind.) Center Grove's Joel Hale. Many believe the 6-foot-4, 290-pound Hale is the top prospect in the Hoosier State for the class of 2011. The Spartans, along with more than 20 other schools including Florida and Ohio State, have offered Hale. The Buckeyes are aggressive in Hale's recruitment and viewed as the favorite at this point. Hale is expected to decide before his senior year, so getting him on campus this summer will be important.
