He also has limited chances (contracts/years) to make money. Vernon Gholston was drafted 6th in '08 and he's already out of the league. Having a degree doesn't guarantee a paycheck.

If I were Urban Meyer, I can't see how I could advise Hankins to remain in school. Not with a straight face.

It's easy for fans, who have no skin in the game, to "recommend" all kinds of shit that makes no sense.

Like most everyone else here; I would be ecstatic if he chose to come back, I would cheer for him if he left to get paid.

If he's first round then I beg him to go. Suggesting that he stay is without merit. He can come back to school whenever the NFL no longer needs him.

...and 100% of those people you refer to aren't turning down $22 million. If Hank has an opportunity to go in the top 10--or hell anywhere in the first round--then that's a great thing for him, and he should go to the NFL where all of Buckeye Nation will be with him.

I think it all comes down to what number that he is projected to be picked:

The debate is whether top draft choices should get a chance to get more money in 2013 or 2014 if they are cut. Salaries for the top 16 draft choices are fully guaranteed through the first four years of their contracts. As in baseball and basketball, if a player with a guaranteed contract is cut, he knows he is going to get the final year or two of his salary. For a top-eight pick in the NFL draft, that might be worth between $2.1 million and $3.4 million. For a pick in the low teens of the first round, you're talking $1.15 million to about $1.5 million.

Needles to say in the NFL fully guaranteed through the first four years of their contract is a good thing.

How many NFL players blow their millions anyway? My point is worst case scenario he takes a chance to win a national title gets injured drops to a late round pick and still makes a lot of money. Absolute worst case scenario.

If he grades as highly as everyone expects him to, then I think it would be a wise move for him to go. But personally, I love it when great players forego the draft in order to inflict a Buckeye Reign of Terror on the college football landscape for one more year.
