Here's the latest on the conference's top players who are projected to go from playing on Saturdays to starring on Sundays.

1. DT Johnathan Hankins, 6-3, 317, Ohio State

Why he has the top spot: Hankins was Ohio State's defensive player of the week two Saturday's ago for his efforts against UCF even though he had just three tackles, meaning that coach Urban Meyer recognized his efforts along the interior. Defensive tackles' work is often lost along the trenches but Hankins' relentless pressure yielded his first sack of the season to thwart a fourth-quarter comeback attempt from Golden Bears quarterback Zach Maynard in last weekend's 35-28 win.

10 total tackles and 1 sack today, same as last week I think.

At this rate hes going to be the outland winner. What kind of DT has 2 straight games of atleast 10 tackles

A solid one whos team has allowed frequent long drives in the last few games. This D has been getting grinded on the last few weeks...its not looking too good with us going up to Spartan Stadium this week. We need a few more 3 and outs.

COLUMBUS ? Remember Cameron Heyward's 80-yard interception return against Miami two years ago, the one where the Ohio State defensive lineman ran out of gas and was tackled at the 15-yard line?

That's what Johnathan Hankins' father said his son dreams about every day.

?He's looking to pick off a pass and run it back,? James Ward said of his 322-pound son. ?He's looking for that ball in the flat and believe me, if he gets it, he's going to run it back. And he just might do a flip into the end zone.?

After watching Hankins during three college football seasons with the Buckeyes develop into a potential top-10 pick in the NFL Draft, with a wide body, quick feet and game-changing style, Ohio State fans, who know him as Big Hank, might believe it.

Those who have been watching Hankins do this his whole life, and know him as John-John, don't doubt it for a second.

Honest and funny, Hankins ends about every third answer during interviews with a quick and almost indistinguishable ?know what I'm saying.? Yeah, people know what he's saying. Because they've been watching what he's doing.

?I've never seen anyone like Johnathan Hankins,? said Donshell English, his former coach at Detroit's Southeastern High School. ?Ever.?
