DT Luke Fickell (HC Wisconsin Badgers)

Martyball, or Tresselball or whoeverball, really depends on having a significant talent advantage.

You can't really count on that at a mid major school.

I don't know about that - didn't Tress win 3 NCAA DI-FCS titles at YSU and play for 2 more?

I realize that Tress recruited some talent to Youngstown, but overall isn't the talent pool fairly even distributed throughout the FCS? Since those who are better go FBS, and those who are worse go DIII, at the end of the day leaving a fairly homogeneous talent pool to go around. At least, that's what I thought. Someone please feel free to correct me.

I never found the Monty Inn to be all that.

Thank you! Montgomery Inn is nothing special. I've had better ribs at plenty of other restaurants, the jazz and ribs fest, and also in my own home. My mother-in-law told me that Montgomery Inn was closing in Dublin the other week like it was some headlining news. My response was "oh. Okay."

YSU's peers in terms of talent advantage were other FCS schools. They could have been the OSU of FCS for a few years for all I know.

UC, and schools like it, are never getting the top end talent as compared to most of the P5 schools.

That's why, imo, you don't see mid majors running the traditional pro style offenses. They have to try and scheme away their talent deficiencies.

And don't wish skyline on your worst enemy. Stuff tastes like dogfood on stale spaghetti.
I wish we still had negative rep purely for this.
