DT Robert "BB" Landers (Official Thread)

I really think he brings something different to the table in regards to our interior DL. The explosiveness and burst he possesses could get him on the field early
If Joey Bosa has taught us anything over the past two seasons, it's that discipline and playing your assignment is at least as important exploding into the backfield on every play, which can expose gaps in the defense that can be exploited.

While I agree Landers has great potential, he will need to learn a lot in a hury (just like any freshman) if he's going to see the field in any meaningful way next season.

Yup, and that revolutionized the defense in the postseason.

At times I wonder whether OSU wins the NC if Noah Spence is not suspended. While I wish we had seen the third year version of his skillset opposite Bosa (and the strong interior guys), the discipline and consistency of Miller and Frazier paid dividends, especially once Joey started doing the same.

Same thing with Bennett. I rewatched the Sparty game last night and it was interesting to watch how Sparty exploited the fact that they couldn't block or contain him by running at the spot he vacated.

This kid is going to be a hell of a good player. His film, attitude and motor are all outstanding. Plus, he continued to elevated his game in the state playoffs. Throw in the motivation from a lost loved one, repeatedly being told he's too short for his position, and being ranked a consensus 3-star... He's going to be a monster. I've got a great feeling about this guy.

OHIO STATE'S DONTRE WILSON, JAMES CLARK, ROBERT LANDERS ADDED TO MEN'S TRACK AND FIELD ROSTER

Ohio State football players Dontre Wilson, James Clark and Robert Landers will join the men's track and field team for the upcoming season, the school announced Tuesday.

“We're excited to have our football players join the track and field program,” director of track and field/cross country Karen Dennis said in a press release. “I appreciate Coach [Urban] Meyer and his staff working Landers, Wilson and Clark into our training schedule in an effort to strengthen our men's program.

"We realize the indoor season is short and these men have a major responsibility to football. However, they are all talented athletes that may help us in the throwing and sprint events. They have some work to do to get their ‘track legs’ back, but work is something they are very familiar with.”

Landers — a freshman defensive tackle hailing from Wayne High School in Huber Heights, Ohio — was the Division I state champion in the shot put as a high school junior and qualified for state in both the shot put and discus as a senior.

I just worry that his explosiveness up field looks like it can be a little out of control at times and leave gaps in the defense when he (potentially) gets out of position. Bosa was the same way prior to the conference championship game in 2014, IMO.

This is my new favorite player, his DNA says ball out. He isn't phased by playing in the shoe, he just wants to crush some fools.

Lights come on when it's game time and some guys just have another gear they can't get to otherwise.....Landers is a total gamer. He had the confidence and attitude and the rest of the unit responded.....there was a lot more talk about Jones and Hamilton but after yesterday I think you give this man his props. Lot of lights are going to be on next Saturday night.....lets see it again BB!
